Little addendum for Mass which I skipped through because I was curious how it looked. I would actually say the film looks quite good, and based on my player's reading a fairly stable between 20-25mbps for the film's first half. However, when the aesthetic changes-
[Show spoiler] -it is pretty much stuck between 10 and 15mbps (not necessarily surprising as there's a lot less information in the frame obviously) and looks a lot more flat. So I'd say it's a mixed bag but not a botch job and this was definitely not a title that was a sure thing for a Blu release altogether unlike say Pig or Titane so I'm not really wont to complain about it. I would say Flee looks great, though. It also doesn't really rise much above 20mbps but considering the style of animation I'd say it's a extremely solid presentation and there wouldn't really be all that much to gain from having given it a dual layer disc with more room to spare (helps the movie is short, as well, I guess!). Flee is getting a UK Blu from Curzon so that could be dual layer. Unfortunately UK rights for Mass are with Sky Cinema and though under Universal they haven’t done any BDs for about half a year - and the master on Sky/NOW has PAL speedup. I don’t know if it’s sold to other territories, but hopefully another country releases a Blu.

Crimes of the Future BD scheduled for August 9th. Still nothing for Celine Sciamma's Petite Maman. Perhaps it's too early to tell, but that could possibly signal a release coming from Criterion instead, like Portrait of a Lady on Fire. I thoroughly enjoyed Petite Maman by the way. If it's playing near you, I recommend checking it out.

At least Petite Maman has a UK Blu-ray for anyone who is Region B capable, though I do think it is worth the cinema experience.
I’m hoping Crimes of the Future gets a French Blu if no UK distributor acquires it soon after Cannes. Lionsgate and eOne handled Cronenberg’s last films, but film distribution has changed since then, so maybe Signature who handled Possessor? |

Anyone else able to comment on the quality/encoding/file sizes of some of their other blu-rays unreviewed here? The Last Son, Together, I'm Your Man, Sundown, Kicking Blood?
Any comments, beyond the available review, on if The Cursed is a solid disc? Anything on Mass, beyond what's been mentioned? Any of these better than the discs of Pig and Spencer, and worth getting. Or would it be better to seek out an overseas disc? |

Breaking (aka 892) getting a Blu-ray release from Decal (Bleeker Street) on October 25th. The movie releases in theaters on August 26th, and has been getting a positive reception. Comparisons have been made to films like Dog Day Afternoon, and John Q. This is also Michael K. Williams' final film.

Mafia Mamma dated for June 6th
![]() Also, I noticed at MovieZyng that there were DVD listings for Enys Men and The Quiet Girl. I haven't seen Enys, but The Quiet Girl is a really excellent film, and I was hoping for a BD release. Perhaps Criterion could pick it up. https://www.moviezyng.com/enys-men-d...r/810103689015 ![]() https://www.moviezyng.com/the-quiet-...t/810103689237 ![]() Edit: DVD only releases for Bait and Beba too |
