This is seeming like a case of "give someone who actually sounds like Garfield a chance instead of just going with a bit name actor again" situation.

Chris Pratt as Garfield? Can he sound similar to the relaxed classic voice of Lorenzo Music (name?) of the original Garfield series? Garfield & Friends? And some of the films?

I guess I'll wait to see, but I'm not too hopeful if he can't at least attempt to match the voice and style. Maybe it'll be good, like the Super Mario Bros. film was for capturing the style of those games.

It legitimately brings me so much comfort rewatching those cartoons. I still have my old Garfield As Himself DVD that I remember getting at Blockbuster.

Animation looks kinda like Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs

Chris Pratt still just sounds like himself. Didn’t even bother to add a slight accent this time like he did for Mario. And then the trailer goes on and on about submitting a cat video? This looks lame so far, but hopefully I’m wrong.

Super Mario bros did have respect for the material. despite the change of the look which I don't mind. Its very respectful to the material.

for those that read the books will understand what I mean.

The voice is fine, I feel that he could have sounded a little more mopey, but I guess there's no escaping the modern upbeat children's movie.

I liked the stuff with baby Garfield, but everything after that just felt off. I don't know, I think they key to a compelling Garfield story is that it's actually John's story seen through Garfield's perspective.

Yeah, I used to have that. Think I wore it out. Always wanted the other specials but I don't think they got released in the UK

I always loved the Lou Rawls songs in those specials

Even more reason why Bill Murray deserves to be in a good Garfield film. The endlessly cynical and sarcastic Bill Murray is the perfect celebrity to play the character. Even more perfect that Lorenzo Music played his Ghostbusters character for the cartoon

don't like the animation style at all, and I feel as the owner of a big mischievous orange cat that my opinion carries more weight than any of yours

PS: but actually the trailer doesnt look bad at all

I’ll never get used to the idea of Garfield using his mouth to talk lol

I guess I’m just used to the 80s cartoons since it’s all in his thoughts anyway.
