Soul 3D showtimes took a minute to show up after the first batch of 2D showtimes. I’m not panicking just yet.

The short Kitbull is available in 3D, unfortunately it is encrypted and I can’t test it. we wont be showing turning red in 3D at all.

I've only found two theaters screening Turning Red in 3D in the entire USA. They're both in SoCal. Mary Pickford is D'Place in Cathedral City and AMC Ontario Mills in Ontario. I caught Soul at Ontario Mills last month, will see Turning Red this weekend and report back.

Drove 2 hours each way to catch this at the only screening I could find within 200 miles of my Ohio city today, and glad I did. It’s another great Pixar movie using a magical premise to tell a story about growing up.

The 3D is very good, solid with some fun moments and well-used during action scenes. Probably medium strength, but when the movie is this good rhe 3D doesn’t have to be utterly eye-catching in every scene. I am very glad I spent the day traveling to see this, the 3D definitely was worth it.

Drove 2 hours roundtrip to catch Turning Red in 3D on a big screen. Absolutely worth it. Lots of depth and pop, and not just by Pixar's standard. A few moments made me flinch. There's a lot of fast Z-axis movement that make the whole movie into a cartoon roller coaster. The dad's first cooking scene has a lot of slo-mo particle effects that had to have been conceived for 3D. I especially love how much more volume Mei takes on in her panda form, with every strand of fur in its own plane.

It's a shame Disney stopped 3D Blu-rays just when Pixar was hitting their stride. Soul, Elemental, and now Turning Red have the best stereo they've ever done. Can't wait to see Luca next month in 3D as well.

P.S. The attached short, Kitbull, was 2D.

Wondering if the theater you went to used the wrong file, Disney provided 2 separate files for the short one in 2D and one in 3D it would make zero sense to have the 3D one also in 2D, you can attach 2D and 3D DCP files to the same playlist without a problem, why would they go out of their way to creat a 3D DCP in 2D then ?

I believe that Kitbull (and Burrow, which played with Soul) are only 2D. They have no stereo artists listed in their credits, whereas Bao (Pixar's most recent CG short) does have a stereo unit credited. Both Kitbull and Burrow are traditionally animated, rather than CG animated, which wouldn't be conducive to a stereo presentation, as Bob Whitehill stated on Twitter.

They were put in a 3D DCP file either by mistake, or to fulfill another purpose.

Not sure where Osmos saw it, but it also played in 2D in front of the 3D showing at the Emagine theater where I saw it this weekend. I assumed it was intentional based on the art style. It looked like they were going for a Pixar take on Studio Ghibli animation. I really enjoyed the short, flat as it was!

I caught Turning Red in 3D in theater, and Kitbull was 2D for me as well. One 3D trailer for Despicable Me 4.

I thought the stereo was in line with Pixar's typical work but had several sequences with great looking depth, like the slow-mo chopping vegetables from Dad, Meilin's nightmares, the ancestral Bamboo forest, and a few moments where the girls are googly-eyed over the boy band.

Movie - 4/5
3D - 3.5/5

And if you missed it in theaters, it’s available on Apple Vision Pro in 3D!

If you live in a country where you can buy an Apple Vision Pro and if you want to spend a few grand on one, that's great.

Bragging is a bad look. This isn’t the first time you’ve made the same comment. There is no reason we shouldn’t be able to coexist in the 3D media space. I’m sure many of us have spent more on our home theater setups than the cost of the AVP. It just doesn’t make sense they don’t release the films for other formats. There aren’t going to be THAT many people with the headset that interested in 3D films. It’s even more niche than if they just release them to everyone to stream or buy in a physical format. Many people enjoy watching films in a social setting, with other people.

3D may not net the companies much money these days, but it’s even less if they isolate it to only AR/VR at this time.

Sorry guys, I think someone got some bad info. This is not available in 3D on the AVP, either through Disney+ or the Apple TV app.

And that is very unfortunate as the 3D screening this weekend really.rocketed this up in my esteem. I agree with Bleed Orange's review of the 3D at 3.5 but I'd put the movie at a 4.5 on my second viewing, something really just clicked for me this time around. I'd have put it at a 3 or 3.5 after my initial 2D viewing around release time at home on Disney+.

So what? You are a seasoned scalper, if anyone goes and buys three of them now they are going to lose a lot of money. Even you wouldn't scalp it now.

That would be Freaky, he's very proud of never being wrong though so this is a rather embarrassing mistake if true.

Can anyone else with the AVP confirm if the film is there in 3D or not?

Confirmed that it's not in 3D. It doesn't even appear in the 3D list of titles available; the latest entry is still The Marvels.
