Each show just needs to draw in a small but passionate audience who will pay the monthly fee for that show.

Obviously, I'm not saying that they expect every subscriber to be like that, but certainly a big chunk of them are, as I understand it.
I see it like maybe one show gets them interested but nobody is going to stay subscribed indefinitely just to watch one show. They're going to cancel it and then maybe resub later on if to watch it again, or watch the new seasons. That's not a highly sustainable business model. They could release the shows on disc and get 2-3 months worth of a subscription cost in one go. Then the person would also subscribe to watch the new season, and then also likely to buy it. I don't see anybody subscribing full time for one show.

Or not at all here in the US. Titans Season 3 and Doom Patrol Season 3 are both Canada only the last I checked. More TV on Blu-ray being kicked to the curb.

I don't know, if that model worked, we'd see all these streaming shows getting disc releases, but that doesn't happen. Other than shows like House of Cards of The Crown, which are produced by outside companies, the shows actually produced by Netflix or other streamers seem to almost never get disc releases.

I got the KIMI DVD for my Soderbergh collection.

It's a pressed disc.

No idea why they didn't do a BD.

I get they want to push streaming, or might not project high sales figures, but they’re definitely losing out on a guaranteed purchase from someone like me who wants to watch the film desperately but doesn’t want to spend £10 on VOD for it.

It's basically the same thing as what Disney is doing with their streaming titles. Not all that surprising.

My fave HBO Max movie Unpregnant is now on Vudu for $15. Why not a blu-ray?

Really hoping We Own This City gets a Blu, but considering the final season of The Deuce and The Plot Against America never made it to the format, I'm guessing WB is done with David Simon's projects on BD.

HBO Max has made No Sudden Move and Let Them All Talk available for digital purchase, but not even DVDs for those.

I was at least able to find an FYC DVD of Let Them All Talk on eBay for my Soderbergh collection.

No Sudden Move will apparently remain like High Flying Bird, which also never got an FYC disc, so has never been put on any physical media format.

For some reason, a bundle of Seasons 1-2 is coming in the US in June.

Honestly this shouldn't be a surprise. They're mostly studio-specific streaming services, they want people to subscribe to them to perpetually rent a title instead of a one time fee to own it forever. Even when we had amalgamations at their prime, most of those shows still didn't get a release. Sure, we had the odd OITNB, The Crown or Jack Ryan here and there, but those were big shows and the production studio wanted to make money off their own product and not let somebody else have it all, so they released it themselves... which is what Universal's doing with Hacks.

Now everything is produced by a studio with the intent on going up on their own in-house service, they assume people are going to be like "oh hey, I can buy this so I neeeeeever need to use this service for anything else at all ever again nuh uh no way nope." Because they're stupid and think we are as well. They're literally taking a revenue stream out of play to push another that people should not be subscribing to 12 months of the year. If you've got kids and want Disney+ year round, that makes sense, but you know what's better than subscribing for 3 months with a 10-episode series and having little else to watch? Saving x amount of shows and movies and then subscribing for a month and devouring all the content you can during that month, cancel, move on to another service and then resub once they have enough again.

Seems like the only shows that have been released were back when it was DC Universe and apart from Justice League, all the movies are either not getting released in the US at all or are DVD only so that people have to go to HBO Max for HD or pay more for the digital version. MovieZyng announced Moonshot was getting an MOD DVD today.

This honestly makes no sense. The people who want it have the individual ones at this point, so they want something new not what they already have... and if they don't have it they might think why bother now if season 3 might not be getting a release? They should just put the HBO Max stuff out through WAC (Disney+ through DMC, Peacock through Gruv, etc) and charge the usual higher MOD vs standard prices and then people have to specifically look for it online and can't stumble on it in a store that magically still has a home video selection.

It could be worse, Let Them All Talk still seems to have had no UK distribution.

That is, sadly, the way things are going now and in the future.

I'd imagine it will be a wide release, US included. It would be weird for Gunn to tease that only for US consumers to be left out.
