Interesting that it includes the 1910 Edison Frankenstein film. You can stream and download the 2K restoration for free on the LOC website.
https://www.loc.gov/item/2017600664/ It's a good transfer despite some heavy damage and nitrate decomposition since this is the only surviving print. It is still leagues better than the old DVD double feature with Nosferatu. |

Yeah, you and Lex are pushing this "Sony can't be arsed any more" thing but, again, they've been one of UHD's staunchest supporters and there are few signs of this changing. Kino don't seem sure that they're even going to get whatever title it is from Sony they're angling for, so it sounds like the big S is still slightly reluctant to license out stuff for UHD, especially because they've been licensing stuff on BD for years and years and years yet their first licensed UK/US UHD will come six years into the format's life. I'm not sure it's a harbinger of the end just yet, if anything Sony are cranking out so much "small" catalogue stuff in them Columbia Collection sets that they figure if someone else wants a crack at a similar title then why not?

I haven't seen this since English class in high school, and I remember not liking it at all back then. I didn't have a taste for gothic horror, then, like I do now. I'm still reading a lot of negative...but also see a lot of loyal's to it. That cover art alone is making me want to chance it again, though, and it would look real nice with my Hammer stuff and, possibly, Flesh for Frankenstein...

Love this movie. Finally some attention as I have the bare bone DVD for years! To be honest I thought Shout Factory would pick this up. I don't own any ARROW so this will be new to me.

Of the versions closest to the book, I think this film is easily more successful than the 2005 TV mini-series. |

Isn’t this going to be the trend now ? The majors licensing out their films to labels such as Arrow, Shout and Kino. They get the benefit of a large percent of the sales I would imagine and they don’t have to do the work themselves and they still own the actual film and the time frame is probably just a few years and then get it back, lock it up for a while and then license it back out for more $$$
They make $$$ and the good PR of saying “see we care about physical media” Unless your Disney of course. ![]() |
