the new masters on paramount+ are in 4K HDR! however they're still filmouts, just 4K scans of filmouts this time instead of old 2K ones (there's still heavy gateweaving and the fade-ins/outs are similar to that of opticals even tho they aren't)

I saw akaun6899's post that the films were on Paramount+ with new remasters. I had to check them out for myself. I watched a few scenes from the first movie and watched "Paris" all the way through the other day.

Folks, they look AMAZING. peppapigstan is right- they're from 35mm scans, but you could honestly mistake them for digital prints with a thin layer of film grain. They look that good. This will be very welcome in my Blu-Ray collection.

Note: "Rugrats Go Wild" is on P+, but it's the same old master. It's up in the air at the moment as to what that'll look like on Blu. I was never a huge fan of that one anyway.

I guess only Nickelodeon properties get the logo, while the other Nickelodeon Movies just get the standard spine

Hoping that this is gonna drop in the UK too because it’s gonna be so hefty to import 🙄 also hoping for some Bonus Features aswell vs. a bare bones release!! Loved these movies so much as a kid, I’m really glad to see it’s getting a Blu 🥳🙌

The Amazon pre-order price is pretty ridiculous for a catalog trilogy collection on regular blu-ray. Definitely going to wait this one out for a good price drop...

IF they were released individually with an MSRP of $10, would you say that was ridiculous?

Found this on Youtube: https://youtube.com/shorts/j6jQvur1cy8?feature=share

Each movie on their own disc. 1 disc on one side and 2 stacked on the other.

IIRC, the first 2 Rugrats movies were animated digitally but had the animation files output back to 35mm and were finished on film. The digital files at this point are probably corrupt or on old computers that Paramount/Klasky Cuspo can't run on newer hardware. The HD master for Rugrats Go Wild was direct from the digital files, hence why they didn't need to do a new restoration for that one.

Looks like I might get me a replacement case for the one. Even though it’s blu ray; I do not like when they stack discs.

It's not MOD so it could be sold in stores, but it's not a huge release so it probably won't be in most.

If it's stacked, you might have to get a replacement set instead of just a non-stacked case lol

Swapped the stackable case out with a 3-disc Viva Elite.

The aspect ratios for the films are:

The Rugrats Movie - 1.85:1
Rugrats in Paris: The Movie - 1.85:1
Rugrats Go Wild - 2.39:1

So, how does the picture look? Does it use the new 4k masters from Paramount+?

Don't know what the Paramount+ streaming version looks like, but here are screenshots from the first movie.

Definitely looks miles better than the HD master on Netflix.
