It's funny, Miami Connection was the first thing I thought of when New York Ninja was announced. Granted, while NYN had the benefit of actually still having existing negatives (which still makes me scratch my head as to why VS didn't do a 4K), it was never a finished film, which was even more daunting than MC. In a weird way, it kinda links the two films together... well, that and 80s ninjas in America, lol.

Overall, I'm intrigued to see how the interpositive looks, as this seems similar to the Beastmaster scenario. Obviously it'll be night and day compared to the release print master, though I'll be keeping my old Drafthouse blu for the "grindhouse vibe".

It was just revealed a couple of days back that Umbrella is going to be releasing Miami Connection on Blu in Australia. Curious if it’s just going to use the old Drafthouse print master, or if they’re going to have access to VS’s new scan.

I do hope we get some more new restorations of "so bad it's good" movies. Most blu-rays we have of these type of films aren't that good. The best one so far is probably Manos: The Hand of Fate.

I won't rest until we get a UHD of Troll 2.

I wouldn't be shocked if severin did since they love Fragrasso/drudi movies so much.

O, may the almighty Severin gods bestow upon us a 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray Disc™ release of Troll 2 (1990, Claudio Fragasso).

I'd be shocked if it doesn't get a 4K at this rate... As for other "so bad it's good" films, The Room is rumored to have a 4K in the future, but Birdemic barely clears HD status

There's also Grizzly II, which took almost forty years to be completed and released, and was completely stacked out the ass for a horror movie filmed in Hungary (John Rhys-Davies, Louise Fletcher, and bit parts with George Clooney, Laura Dern, and Charlie Sheen).

Like many here, I own the Drafthouse Films BD but pre-ordered the 4K UHD yesterday.

Love this film. Can't wait!

Imagine being that person that jumps into a Vinegar Syndrome thread to bemoan ________ is getting a 4K before some esteemed classics of cinema, while going on a rant that sounds half DVR and half slimdude.

I'm coming to defend because Creasy is one hell of poster. He just needs someone to throw different opinions at him the rest of his life. I completely disagree with him but to compare him to slimy is just kind of grotesque. I also agree with you too, so it's a meh meh.

One I've yet to see, but I've heard about the whole "finished over time and finally released" status... though it also sounds like it was never truly finished, they just finally stopped, lol. That's what also makes New York Ninja so astonishing in comparison, that it actually feels like a (relatively) complete film despite everything in its path.

It really does make you wonder what else is hiding out there. I've seen footage of an incomplete Taimak ninja film, but I don't think that got very far if I read correctly.

Meanwhile, I'm wondering when Vinegar Syndrome will drop screencaps. Then again, they did say they just found the interpositive last month, so a May release still seems ambitious. Then again, the page just says "Ships after Halfway to Black Friday (May 27-30)", so it may be a general summer release perhaps?

Havent seen NYN yet, price is too high for a blind buy but if it ever gets cheap enough it looks fun. Miami Connection has a fun earnestness, diy and that music! Dangerous Men has to be seen to be believed, its like outsider art, and you never know where its going, primo wtf watching, its alot like Samurai Cop in a bunch of ways. Super fun party movie. Drafthouse rules, im glad I was able to collect a few of them. I guess they stopped? Theyll be missed

NYN is a bit more monotonous than Miami Connection, lol. However, it's a surreal time capsule of early 80s New York City, and amazing how much they shot with most likely no permits. Not quite as fun as MC, but definitely in the same vein. Plus it was amusing to see John Liu dubbed by Don "The Dragon" Wilson, lol.

New York Ninja is pretty fun, and seeing the behind the scenes special features about how they put it all together makes it even more interesting. Definitely think it’s worth picking up when it’s eligible for a VS 50% sale.

I'll have check out NYN, I'm always on the lookout for films like this. Undefeatable is a pretty hilarious karate flick starring Cynthia Rothrock. She also did Martial Law with Chad McQueen which was kinda interesting to see him pushing to be an action star...didn't pan out of course. He wasn't terrible but forgettable like many others. The Andy Sidaris films are on another level too.

I'd like to see the new doc on Miami C. but won't pay $40. I'm glad I snagged the last release when it was $12 at Drafthouse.

Miami C. has a bit of everything which keeps me tuned in. Karate, bad acting, rock music, bikers, beaches and a fun 80s vibe I grew up on. I have to thank Rifftrax again for this and Samurai Cop for bringing these gems to my attention. Cyborg Cop 2 is another great one. So bad it's amazing. People being blown up which are clearly mannequins dressed as actors.
