This for me. Lost one son as a viewer. It was dreadful, dreadful television. I can't think of a single story I'd give more than a 2/10, except maybe Rosa Parks, only that was SPOILED BY THE DR and Sci-fi elements. Most I'd give a zero or 1/10.

They've been in Who before, I think they used them to communicate in the lighthouse in Horror of Fang Rock. But maybe the lighthouse looks like a big d*ck to you too, I don't know.

I don’t blame you, but come on? There has been improvement. But I totally get it, Chibnall is a lazy writer.

I'm not all the way caught up on this Doctor yet, but my take so far is that Chibnall been very different, and consistently average -- I rated him a 6.

My history with the new series is that after generally enjoying the RTD era, I eventually gave up on Moffat as a showrunner (stopped watching entirely) and decided to wait for another writer to come along before giving the new Doctor Who another shot. Chibnall's Doctor isn't perfect, or even always good, but it was enough to bring me back into the Who fold. Always the contrarian, me.

Apparently you're not as much of a contrarian as I am, I've been totally happy with the Doctor for the entirety of Chibnall's run.

Denial of what exactly? It's just one of those lazy cheap shots that people have made for years when they're trying to knock the old show. The Doctor yells hello into the tube, then blows into it and listens for a reply. That sound like a BJ to you? If so, your girlfriend's a little bit freakier than mine.

ANYWAY, getting back on track, the whole Chibnall era's a bad joke. Take all your embarrassing moments from the old show, Ingrid Pitt kicking the Myrka, Zarbi bumping into the camera, etc., etc., it's nothing compared to the Chibnall crapfest. If RTD hadn't come back the show would be cancelled right now.

I'd have to rate it 1, simply because there isn't an option for 0. A perfect storm of a showrunner out of his depth who mule-headedly refuses to change course in the face of overwhelming evidence. An actress who is soap/cop show level possessing neither of the Doctor's prime attributes of humour and authority, instead delivering a performance resembling an eight year old Victoria Wood with ADHD. The most terrible writing in Who's history thanks to the BBC's Equality and Diversity Strategy and not to forget the towering arrogance of Piers Wenger who refused to pull the plug on this disaster.

Has Chibnall killed one of the BBC's few remaining (once) profitable franchises or can RTD manage a resurrection so huge it will make Lazarus look like he was having a nap?

That's how I felt in the Peter Capaldi era, all they needed to be is have him be darker no nonsense Dr and trimmed out all the woke companions and have great stories.

For me the best of the new era - Matt Smith, actually used the TARDIS as a storytelling device, Great stories and the best companions ever (yeah it helped that Karen Gillan was hot as hell and Rory got my respect in the end)

Best of the old era - Tom Baker of course.

Better still, look at the crashing ratings (on all platforms) that have seen it fall to a record low in the show's history. The show has simply never been less popular than in Chibnall's reign of error.

Of course, if we're talking about hyperbole, there are a couple of posters who, despite the massive drop in ratings on all platforms, drop in sales of merchandise and Blurays of new seasons, cut budgets, abbreviated runs, Chibnall leaving the show two seasons earlier than he planned and the BBC no longer making the show but farming it out to a Sony-owned company instead, still insist that the show has never, ever been more successful than today.

Quite possibly most of them. For people who grew up watching a 59-year old TV show and have an emotional investment in it it's like supporting a football team through thick and thin, even through the losing seasons where they complain about the lousy manager picking the wrong players and not having a clue how the game should be played. They're the ones who force themselves to watch every game they know they'll lose in hope of just a glimmer of the team's glory days while all the fairweather fans have moved on to more successful teams while they're winning.

Does it count if they just hate-watch them so they can go online and dwell on all of the things they didn't like?

Yeah that is pretty much what I was getting at. Does not take but a few episodes to find out you dislike something. There is a lot of content why not try something else?

There you go, bail out if it is not entertaining you. Unless people are entertained by hate watching things.
