Talk about a very welcome out of left field announcement. Also, I can't believe they just announced this at the bottom of their newsletter. It's basically giving me "Oh, yeah, by the way we're releasing a minor film you may know, TCM 2. No biggie really" This is insanely exciting though. Hopefully they carry over all of the extras (Arrow, SF and MGM).
I don't know if this is still considered an unpopular or controversial opinion, but I gotta say I kind of prefer and enjoy this one more than the original TCM. Don't get me wrong, I love the first one and you can't deny it's legacy and influence, blah, blah, blah, but I find myself revisiting the sequel more and more in contrast to the first one.

The Cellar Dweller from Scream was fine, just barebones and paired with something I still haven't bothered to watch. But it smoked the laserdisc on all levels. Here's my post comparing the ratios and showing how much more picture info, after thinking it would've just be matted for WS.

Great news for everyone who had been holding out, or hunting, or doing sexual favors for this title to get re-issued.

Tammy and the T-Rex is the only disc they’ve released with Dolby Vision.

I'm buying this for the Blu-ray disc alone (my first VS purchase!)!

Now to wait for Dark Sky to give us a 50th Anniversary UHD of the original...

This is great news for fans of the film. I'm a fan of it as well but my SF Blu-ray is good enough. It's not one I need on 4K.

As you pointed out, it was fine for what it is, but it could certainly be better. Besides, are we really going to use the Laserdisc as a parameter for comparison? Most, if not all, films will look better than original counterparts (VHS, DVD, Laserdisc). I get and understand what you're saying, but my point still stands. IMO, the film deserves better.

I've seen it, it's so fun. Seems like the perfect movie for VinSyn.

Edit: As I recall the transfer on the SF disc says it is from the last surviving film print, so unless they have found the negative or an IP, I kind of doubt we'll get a 4K. Which leads me to a question, have there been any UHDs using a 4K scan from a film print?

The perfect movie for VinSyn (or anyone except Mill Creek or Echo Bridge) is this:

Nothing since VHS, don't think it ever even had a laser. Found a decent quality cable rip I put on a dvd-r, but it needs help.

My god, I can't wait to watch the Second Sight UHD for 'The Texas Chain Saw Massacre' and this on UHD back to back.

What a time to be alive!

Of course this gets an UHD release, I finally broke down and bought the BD last year, pff. I love the flick but this will have to be a mighty fine release with a significant upgrade to get my $$ again, would have no prob sticking with the SF disc if it's a clunker.

VinSyn UHDs are typically pretty great. I imagine the transfer will blow away the Shout release, even though I love my SF blu-ray, and I'll probably never get rid of it. That being said there is a chance that certain extras might not get ported and you'll want to keep it, and/or maybe have both.

They probably have both Trolls films since they've been on a run with upgrading former Scream Factory MGM titles to UHD. I wouldn't be surprised if VS also got Return of the Living Dead and Childs Play as well.

It was with Paramount (via the Republic catalog), but has seemingly reverted back to the remains of it's producers. Said producers ether wanted a massive amount or preferred a streaming package deal with other titles.
