Even the highly rated Pacific Rim has some shady HDR grading. King Kong (2005) everything is jacked up to 11. Glad that I didn't pre-order. |

It certainly seems like a mistake considering the digital versions have Dolby Vision. There's no reason to drop HDR on disc when the grade already exists.
Does the back of the case indicate Dolby Vision/HDR or atmos are supposed to be included? |

I see HDR mentioned in the 4k ULTRA HD section, but no Atmos. The back looks like it was printed on some cheap printer honestly.

No mention of Atmos (just 5.1) and technically 5.1 can be "Immersive" or "Multi-Dimensional" so I guess they're good in that regard. This, The Kid, and Primal all have the same banner that lists HDR as a feature but only Primal has an HDR encode (I tested all 3). **Edit** Looks like Chris posted a pic! **Edit** |

I can't see why Lionsgate would downgrade the audio from the DTS 7.1 audio on the blu-ray to only DTS 5.1 Master Audio on the 4K UHD release, when their 4K releases always have Dolby Atmos. There must be some kind of mistake.

I hope you're right and it's a mistake, but I guess we'll have to wait and see if Lionsgate comments on it.

Never seen transfer bt2020-10 being used before.
SDR is usually using BT709. This one is using bt2020-10 though. But, guess thats still SDR, since smpte2084 must be used for HDR (as I understand it). Wonder if this is an error in the mastering. |

What if there is no HDR grade and 7.1 was an upmix? I mean digital being DV is nice, but what does it actually look like? Pacific Rim, SDR in HDR or proper HDR?
I don't have mine yet and won't be able to compare it with the BD, since I have none, but last time I checked non-HDR-4K still beat the BD and with Lionsgate in particular I'd hope for banding being gone. Compression issues comments re. The Kid, which I also don't have yet, don't have me overly optimistic though... I don't see Lionsgate fixing anything at any rate and if there are pq instead of specs issues indeed, I'll also stay away from future Lionsgate MOD releases - I went for this one and The Kid. |

Pacific Rim DV on iTunes/MA still looks better than HDR10 on the disc w.r. to HDR presentation. |

Just took a look at the BD caps and maybe someone can take a look at this:
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/scree...76&position=18 on digital. If there's more detail with the clouds, I think it's safe to say it's proper HDR, if there isn't, I'd call fake HDR. Anyway, I guess I'll compare it with some BD caps at any rate when I have mine. EDIT: Oh, and looking at all the BD releases, 7.1 just being an upmix will seem rather likely to me. It means it might have, yes. 2020 is still only a container if you want, but it might come with actuall P3 colours then for example (while I doubt real 2020 range unless it comes with teal and lobster push TM).

Pre-2010 7.1 mixes were quite rare, yet most LG titles from that time have them. |
