Is this the same 2K remaster as the Second Sight or is it actually a brand new scan?

It is the same. If you're region free, you might as well save yourself $10-$15, depending on where you get it.

I’m not, so I ordered the Shout.

Looks to be identical to the Second Sight release in terms of extras too.

As far as I can tell it is exactly the same in every way. Now that I think about it, the Second Sight may even be region A+B, but I can't be sure.

Cool, thank you. So for those with multi-region players, the Second Sight disc is a much better deal than SF's. None of that exclusive bullshit, either, so plenty of copies to go around.

I did a comparison of Hens Tooth with the posted Shouts

Top : Hens Tooth
Bottom : Shout

No, the Second Sight disc is sourced from the same transfer that was used for the Hen’s Tooth release. It has better encoding but it’s still the same scan.

I just checked my Second Sight disc and it is sourced from the same transfer that was used for the Hen’s Tooth release. It has better encoding but it’s still the same scan. So although it doesn’t seem like it’ll be a hugely different, the Shout does look to be from a newer transfer then what was used for the other 2 releases.

Interesting. If this turns out to be accurate I'll be glad I was wrong. We won't know for sure until the SF disc is in-hand and we get a direct comparison to the Second Sight disc, though.

Being that the Second Sight release is 6 years old now it would've been crazy for Shout! to sit on a new scan for that long. I wish we had caps of the Second Sight release.

They even highlighted the part that says: "NEW 2K Scan Of The Negative."

If it was reused from the Hen's Tooth / Second Sight one it would not have it advertised as new.

I’ve tried a few times to get into this movie, but even with that great cast, it just isn’t my cup of tea. I doubt a new transfer will change my opinion so I’ll likely hang onto my Hen’s Tooth release. Glad it’s getting updated for those who are fans though.

Wow, the Shout! looks so much better than the Hen's Tooth disc in every regard.

Better details and better color timing. I'm gonna have to double...errr...triple dip this weekend for sure. Looks like the best release of one of my alltime favorite films yet.

ok I love that Shout! slapped Neville Brand onto the back cover. Major Groper is definitely an unforgettable character, much like many of the characters in this movie.
