They offer some good deals for people buying multiple items. This will definitely hurt sales of other movie retailers. I canceled a bunch of preorders from other places to order from them.

It has been said that MU is the same as Deep Discount. Their site also looks exactly the same except for the colors lol. Deep Discount always ships orders as they become available, so it is safe to say MU does the same. Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong since this is the first time I have ordered with them.

I placed 5 separate orders for a subtotal of $515.56 before discount. Not bad cutting it as close as possible to the $100 mark for each order huh? I came close to maximizing the discount of $150.

Anyone have thoughts if $90 (after discount) for Star Trek The Next Generation: The Complete Series is a good price? I haven't followed pricing on this, but is seems better than what I could've gotten just before the last run went out of print earlier this/late last year.

Yes. It's just like DDD because it IS DDD really. It's the same company that ships in exactly the same way from exactly the same place. Once upon a time Movies Unlimited was a huge mail order dealer out of Philly (I believe). Direct2u bought out the business and continues to use the name -- while still producing a catalog for those old customers -- but it's just one of the many "storefronts" they have that are all part of their biz (ImportCDs being another).

The last time I ordered from them they were still an independent company. You could never tell if something was in stock when you ordered. I wonder why they need so many storefronts selling the same thing? It's like they're trying to compete with themselves to keep prices high.

I wonder if the 25% off codes for later this year only work for in stock items or preorder items too.

I was just noticing this when I saw the checkout page. Looks exact same as DDD.

Starting to think I should wait to buy from DDD.

Essential Film Noir Vol 3 pre-order would be $104 shipped through MU. I am thinking it will be less with free shipping through DDD if I wait a month so that it will not be a pre-order and I could use one of the monthly DDD coupons.

I don't know about that, if you have the right bunch of items I doubt there will be better deals than this at DDD since you won't ever be doing better than 15% off there.

For example -- the ST-TMP Director's Limited UHD set is $59 after coupon if you can find something to push the order over the $100 mark. I bought a cheapo Paramount catalog title for $12 which did that. (shipping is also free at MU)

The closer you can get to the $100 threshold and maximize the savings the better the deal is. It's entirely YMMV based on the items you want -- but any coupon that lowers some/most of the Shout 4K's down to the low $20-ish realm is darn good. There may not be a better deal on these specific titles anywhere else this year. I have 3 orders that totaled $100-$110 before coupon so it worked out perfect for what I wanted.

Yep, all my orders so far I have barely snuck over the $100 mark.

I did $511.88 for five orders. One of the orders was responsible for more than half ($6.92) of the overrun.

This is sort of like The Price is Right.

Also, Discover Card has a 5% cash back this quarter if you pay through PayPal so that's like an extra $25 off. On the other hand they don't have deals with Rakuten (formerly Ebates) or TopCashBack like DD has.

You might be right there, unless target stocks or restocks the Shout UHDs before their next B2G1 sale AND has them at a better starting price.

At $100 this is essentially a 30% off promo. That's MUCH better than any coupon DD has EVER put out. Considering DDs very best coupon has been no more than 15% since they sold out, the math starts to turn into DDs favor when you pass the $200 mark. And you're essentially buying from the same outfit, so it's like the best sale the modern DD has EVER had just from a slightly different website. Hope it's a sign of things to come. Somebody NEEDs to step up should target and BB drop their online physical departments like they virtually have their stores.

I got it from Amazon for ~$80 (can't confirm the exact price because I used rewards points for it), but that was in Summer 2018, which CamelCamelCamel tells me is the historic low price for it by a good bit. So given where the pricing on it has been since Fall 2018, seems like a good price to me, yes.

Exactly. The good thing with MU is many of them are already at $28.99 so it's a really good deal at the moment.

I would concur. I got it about the same time from amazon, July 18, 2018 (prime day). My order history shows it was a deal of the day for $112.42, minus the deal of the day discount, which there were several BDs in my order, all deals of the day, so the discount is combined in my order history too. So I can't give an exact price either, but $90 seems a pretty good deal.

You are right - depends on what you are seeking.

The problem is that the item I want is $104 on MU after all discounts and is currently up on DDD for $101.31 as a pre-order. Thus, I will wait for DDD coupon in September and hope DDD does not raise price.
