I hope Eureka keeps the other movies of the IN THE LINE OF DUTY series coming as quick as possible. Give us ROYAL WARRIORS, IN THE LINE OF DUTY 3 and 4, MIDDLE MAN as well as FORBIDDEN ARSENAL, QUEEN'S HIGH and SEA WOLVES.

Have the details of the 88 release been announced yet? Could be the same HD presentation of the US cut.

YUP. The export cut also cuts out Sammo's cameo scene, so thus David Chiang swaps out one role for another, lol.

If it wasn't for that bizarre decision the Export cut would probably be the better version as it loses some of the sillier comedy.

88 Films told me they would announce something about a "special US release" mid October. I can't wait!!!
Honestly, I just want this in at least 1080p since it's been so hard to find let alone in decent quality. Also, I'd rather buy from 88 any day over Eureka

why?

And for comparison's sake, I prefer Arrow's recent HK PQs and extras over 88 films...

There's an actor credited in this as 白骨 ("skeleton") (!)

Does anyone know who this is or if they have an AKA?

Eureka has burned me a lot recently with some of their releases, skimping on what's promised vs what's released. IMO, they just don't give af about their customers. 88 at least feels like they give a good effort to release great stuff.

We get it, you were disappointed with their Police Story trilogy release...

Define "some". Police Story doesn't count.

Yup, I was. Didn't want to let that cat out of the box for obvious reasons but yeah, thanks. Yes I thought that release was sloppy and instead of taking criticism, I got attacked (because you can't criticize things anymore).

I get that. But that is one out of hundreds. With that sole exception, and possibly five Graves to Cairo, I think they have been top notch and their customer service, combined with free international shipping, is why I love them.

You said "some of their releases." What are the others you have issues with?

It's really just PS and PS2 that I didn't like, both individually and the box set. Please don't open this up to an argument, I don't have the strength to battle today. I'd rather buy anything from 88 Films after the PS box set debacle and that's just like, my opinion, man. Some people like Coke over Pepsi and that's what makes the world go 'round is choice.

If we're playing the comparison game in the Hong Kong film space, then packaging wise, yes, I do think recently 88 has overtaken Eureka with their slipbox releases which are more comparable now to what Arrow's been doing the past several years.

But if we're talking actual disc content, they are almost identical in quality these days, using a lot of the same guys doing commentary, presenting similar type of extras, and the scans are not typically done in house like Arrow or Criterion, so you get what you get from the studios from both. The exception so far is just PS3 I believe, where apparently both did their own remaster.

So yeah, I definitely don't think one is superior to the other, especially with a lot of the same people from these forums working on releases from both companies. I do think we are entering new territory now though with 88 being in the US, as they are now able to put out the same films as Eureka in a different territory (like how VS likewise put out a few recently in the US that 88 has coming soon in the UK). So we will have to see what kind of things 88 may do differently than Eureka, other than packaging. But I think it's too early to tell which will have the superior release, if we really are trying to compare the two companies...

Yes. I am just thrilled that both US and UK customers can get these films! For those of us who are region free, we want the best. However, between 88 and Eureka, to me it typically comes down to cost.

Who would have thought we would ever see these films on bluray with supplements, let alone have two companies to choose from!!

If this is the case, don't make snide and unnecessary comments like this:

I politely asked you guys to keep it civil like i was yard but you had to jump in with your two cents. Can't you freaking leave it alone? I simply said I'd rather buy from one company than another and you took it personally. Again, grow up and go back to your Minecraft. Damn.

If this is the case, you can feel free to ignore my comment. I wasn't even talking to you. Go away, troll. I was only pointing out that for those who prefer 88 over Eureka (god forbid) or those who aren't region free there's another release on the way and you all just HAD to get on my case again. Seriously, grow TF up.
