It's a perfectly viable sub-genre, even if it's done lazily often. I think there could be a very effective Strangers film in that style if they go the Paranormal Activity approach and utilize security cameras within a home. There could be a ton of fun moments built around smart technology too, similar to the beginning of the new Scream.

Regardless, my initial point was that it would be more interesting to allow this series to be a playground for up and comers. Renny Harlin is far passed his "prime". I even met the man for a weekend, helping out with that Hercules movie of his. His passion for his craft is long gone.

I actually enjoyed it as much as the original.

Both films 4/5 for me. Happy to own both on Blu-ray.

I guess time will tell. Like you say, the potential is there to continue the series indefinitely.

They can take the "mythos" of the Strangers but update it so it's less anger inducing. My last rewatch of the original I couldn't stand Liv Tyler and her choice to do literally everything wrong.

The original still terrifies me. It's incredibly well done. While I don't have any expectation for anyone to top it, consider me intrigued. Additionally, Basso is a good actor, and has gotten quite ripped. I wonder what his role will be.

I really dig the first one. I am not a huge horror fan but it was pretty terrifying to me without going overboard on the gore. I never even knew there was a sequel. What is the best home release for the first film?
