Except the Atmos mix isn't included in any download package which is hardly surprising as most people probably woudldn't recogznie the format or how to play them, and the downloads previously didn't offer the high rez versions without peak limiting (ie - the vinyl cutting master) so we will never know given you cannot accurately measure vinyl with the DR meter. At the very least, they could have included 5.1 FLACs with the download package given Giles has created 5.1 and Atmos mixes separately for each previous album.

I am just gonna get the 2 cd set.
I wonder if any of the outtakes already appeared on Anthology 2?

Was looking forward to hearing the atmos mix. Bummer. Not sure why they don't just sell the blu-rays with atmos mixes on their own with reasonable prices anyway.

Interesting to see I wasn't the only one to pass on this set due to no blu-ray. I went with a hi-res download of the whole set. Most of my music listening these days is through a nice headphone rig that puts my nice home theater sound system to shame, aside from surround that is. This just sounded weird with my headphone rig and "spatial audio", and not too bad on my non-atmos 5.1 home theater once I had a chance to crank it up enough (I finally did the one month free trial of Apple Music), though I did have to wonder if I was missing any of the overhead content or had it been downmixed in.

(I was also happy to forego another round of how much damage can the sellers inflict on yet another bulky box set with their ever poorer warehousing/packing practices, and how many times will I try before settling or just giving up trying altogether.)

agreed. nearly unfathomable that i would have skipped this set, but i got the 24bit/96kHz hi-res d/l for ~$30 w/ my qobuz subscription.

not only is the lack of a blu-ray unforgiveable, but they spread about 2 CDs worth of music over 5 discs, and many of the outtakes are merely remastered from the Anthology set, anyway.

couldn't pay an extra $70 for the big book w/ it, sorry

Totally agree. I ended up day-one-ing the download from prostudiomasters, paid about 45. (I ended up settling on amazon music for my hi-res streaming needs, but I think all their downloads are just mp3, so I go elsewhere to buy.)

Yep. It would literally have to be dirt cheap for me to get it without a blu-ray. With a blu-ray literally any price point (within a degree of reason lol) would work. Studios/music execs are so stupid sometimes.

The new Beatles Red and Blue albums are streaming in Dolby Atmos on Apple Music.

Guess that's it for any multi-channel physical releases for Beatles music.

Yeah I probably would have bothered if there was a multi-channel and/or atmos blu-ray option, but I've never owned the Red or Blue albums, and still have no inclination to do so when it's still just CDs, or even hi-res downloads. At some point I will just stream them via apple (for the surround) and maybe amazon (via headphones), to see what's what, if I ever get the chance to squeeze them in…

On the other hand I did go for the Revolver hi-res downloads. I was not really inclined at the time to settle for another bunch of CDs, and pay even a lot more for the privilege. And I did stream some of these on apple, but don't think I got through all of them. Probably if I had some overhead speakers I might be more excited, but I don't.

Thankfully The Beatles estate doesn't have full control over the John Lennon estate, someone in the latter camp appreciates either physical media or lossless audio and the upcoming 2024 deluxe release of Mind Games will have two Blu-ray Discs included for the new Atmos and stereo mixes of the album and boatloads of bonus content.

Sean Lennon is one of the producers, perhaps he's the one with the eye for fidelity.

I'm not buying the red and blue either, but if they release the early albums in true stereo, I'll pick those up, even if they are just CDs.

I doubt they aren't holding back multichannel because they don't have an ear for fidelity. It's probably because the average Beatles fan doesn't have an Atmos system. They're probably luddites with turntables and tube amps. A Blu-ray Disc would just be a drink coaster for them.

Looks like Band on the Run is getting a streaming only Atmos release in February.

They remixed the early songs on red so they aren’t in ping pong stereo any more. I’d like to see them do that with all the early albums.
