Unfortunately not, it's a 5.1 DTS HD-Master Audio mix. It's missing the foreign audio and subtitles as well. The only other audio track it contains is the English audio description track.

Wow, what a colossal blunder.

Anyone who purchased these should contact Paramount immediately to politely ask for the discs to be re-authored. It's going to be hard to support these 4K UHD releases if they are downgrades. I think Reacher is still on the cards because that Blu-ray seems to have only DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio.

Thanks to those who purchased and reported the news.

It has Dolby Atmos on the Blu-ray, but not on the 4K? Now that's really screwed up.

Received my season 2 copy today and it contained season 1 discs. Whomever Paramount is using for MOD needs to seriously up their QC.

On the Atmos front I am going to remux a BD episode into the 4K version and see if things line up. This should not be something I have to do for the best quality. At least the video looks great so it isn't a total loss.

UPDATE: Success with the remux. Timing matches perfectly.

UPDATE #2: Seems this only works for season 1. Finally got my corrected season 2 from Amazon and the Atmos track doesn't line up. I am still trying to figure out the audio delay necessary to get it working.

UPDATE #3: No delay needed for season 1. -600ms works great for season 2.

From The Bits' review:

Quote:
Audio on these 4K discs represents a slight compromise, but not an egregious one. Whereas the previous Blu-rays included object-based Dolby Atmos mixes, the new 4K discs feature lossless DTS-HD Master Audio. But while some fans will be tempted to complain about the switch, I’m not one of them. This title isn’t say, Top Gun: Maverick—it’s a TV series, with a TV series surround mix. Its worth noting that Atmos files are somewhat (though not dramatically) larger than equivalent DTS-HD MA files, so it’s likely that in order to squeeze four episodes onto each BD-100 disc with high image quality, the decision was made to switch audio formats. But I’ve spent a bit of time comparing the two, and what you lose going from Atmos to lossless DTS-HD MA is negligible compared to what you gain in image quality. Keep in mind again, the Blu-ray image was disappointing, whereas this 4K presentation is gorgeous. And both offer terrific sound quality, despite the codec difference. The mixes are both immersive and atmospheric, with a full, rich sound, firm low end, pleasing dynamics, and excellent clarity. Surround use and movement are more lively than you might be expecting, especially once the series moves out of its early office settings. And when the gunfire starts, it’s relentless. Switching to DTS-HD MA from Atmos is a fair trade here, in my opinion.

My favorite part of that is "it's a TV series with a TV series surround mix".

24-bit Atmos and DTS-HD MA 5.1 usually differ by just a few hundred kb/s, if that, and if space was such a concern then they could've encoded the Atmos at 16-bit. The Bits are grasping at straws, again. Perhaps they could aks their industry contacts as to why the change was made instead of pulling spurious technicalities out of their ass?

I guess I can do a Digital Bits style rationalization and say that when using the Firestick, it's a coin toss as to whether an episode will output Atmos or DD+. So, I guess the audio is possibly superior to my Firestick experience sometimes?

Paramount is really on a roll lately. It is just amazing that the UHD gets an audio downgrade over the Blu-Ray. Then there's the first line of this site's review of the audio for the season one Blu-Ray: "Jack Ryan: Season One features one of the best Dolby Atmos soundtracks on the market." No "for a TV series with a TV series surround mix" qualifier on there.

Don't take the database entries as some kind of gospel, they're mostly added by normal users not site staff or from anybody in "the biz." Looking at the date, the slipcover info was added/changed on October 4th and 5th, well before release date... so it was added probably under the assumption it wasn't MOD, and since MOD titles don't usually have a slipcover, they thought it was a wide release and therefor would have a slipcover.

I do not currently have the original Blu-rays so I cannot comment on that.
I've heard DTS:MA and Dolby TrueHD mixes that are better than Atmos mixes. As long as it's good and dynamic, then I'm completely fine with it. I'm not sure what the problem is with dynamic tracks in Atmos, but it seems like some engineers lack the knowledge on how author object based tracks AND keep the track dynamic.

Yet another flawed 4K release, this time no encoded Atmos, available on the BD and 4K streaming as well. Inexcusable, and a deal breaker.

If people keep buying substandard releases, the studios will keep producing them.

Do they have 4 episode playlists per disk like the blu-ray?

Look - i'm not in the market for these 4K discs - have the series on BD bought for a few dollars each......

but 'keep in mind again' that The Digital Bits 'review' is just one person's opinion.. as is the one here. Disappointing ?? maybe that's the Digital Bits one.
