I was already doubting how good it would be without the chemistry of the old characters from the original show (and even that had become a trifle stale in the later series) and I've never been a fan of Nicholas Lyndhurst's stuff outside OF&H, but that didn't look great. Lets hope a few episodes watched as a whole will present an improvement ...

I’m not even a fan of the show, but I read an article yesterday about the revival and it’s lame that David Hyde Pierce declined to return. He says he doesn’t want to repeat the same performance. Come on man be a team player for the fans and your fellow cast mates.

He may have read some of the scripts and thought, "Oh, HELL, no!"

Oh no, this was not what I expected at all when I was hearing all about the revival. I wasn't paying close attention so I thought that most if not all of the original cast was returning and was going to stay in Seattle

Obviously no 'dad', but no Niles, Daphne, Roz, Bulldog?

Looks like all they've done is made Friasier the Dad character and built a show around a bunch of unfunny newcomers.

Apparently he was asked hypothetically if he’d be interested in a revival years ago, since many other shows were getting them. He said no then and stuck to his guns when a revival actually came to fruition.

BTW, has anyone seen this parody trailer done a while back? I looked for a Frasier trailer a month or so ago and saw this, have to say now this concept might have been a better choice to follow!

I agree with the general impression here: it looks kinda (very) bad.

Obviously it's difficult to be funny just with the trailer and no sitcom ever won my trust right at this point. But this felt really bad nonetheless. Really like a generic 80s sitcom.

Its weakest point is that unlike the other revival we had thus far (the ones I saw: Roseanne, Gilmore Girls, The X-Files, Mad About You... even Twin Peaks and Deadwood), they changed the rest of the cast and the location.
That's a huge loss because it is like watching something else, there's no nostalgia kicking in and reawakening good memories. What's the point of a revival if not this?

The original show had to deal with Cheers legacy, but what the audience expected back then was different. Also the show was stellar and made you forget about Cheers just with the pilot.
Here the task is even harder, because Frasier has never been a one man show. David and John carried the show just as Kelsey did, and Roz's and Daphne's roles were pivotal; it was the overall chemistry that really elevated the show.

I will give this a chance anyway, and just jope that my impressions are wrong.
Kelsey's career speak fro itself; he's a huge television actor.

He WAS a team player, for nine years, ten years, whatever it was. In fact, he was more than a team player. When Kelsey Grammer had to go get treatment for cocaine addiction it was Hyde Pierce who stepped up to headline a few episodes so everyone could continue working while Grammer got the help he needed.

He's more than earned the right to do what he wants with his career, he clearly sees no need to cash in on his legacy and, in fact, I'd go so far as to say at least he, unlike Grammer, seems to have a modicum of common sense

The first thing that struck me was how Grammer's voice has deteriorated, it sounds weaker and his timing has gone. The supporting cast look bland to the point of anonymity, I don't think we're going to be seeing a new Bulldog, Bebe, Gil or Noel among them. If this was meant to induce people to watch the series some funny material might have been nice but as it is there are more laughs in Money Plane
