Early delivery yesterday (Sunday), got this and the They Live Stlbk along with two other titles. Even though they were shipped in a box the corners of both steelbooks were dented, so I drove to my local BBY and they were nice enough to let me swap them out.

I have to agree with people: it is a good looking steel...

though it is way too misleading.

They really should have blurred it up a lot more and added some kind of shaky cam inducing hologram effect to the slip.

Enough to induce nausea if you were seeing it move.

I like my Play steel with the embossing. I'll just pick up a 4k disc at some point.

Just in case there are other people sick like me who already own the standard 4K and can't resist picking up the steelbook too; Walmart has this for 20.05 right now. Amazon has already matched too. At least saves a few bucks on the double dip.

I got it for $17.52 when Amazon price matched Walmart, it's not shipping this week though

My BB had about 8 of these in stock. They all had the plastic slip kind of bubbles out. Looks like they weren’t glued properly.

Just got one in the mail that I preordered when Walmart had it for $17.99. It was sent in a paper thin mailer with no padding. It looks like the Cloverfield monster had a go with it. But I can also see the same thing with the slip. It was totally put together incorrectly, so it bubbles out on the front and angles out on the sides.

Anyway, it’s definitely going back.

Got this today and the steelbook looks even better than I thought. I really hate double dipping 4k releases but this one's worth it. I'll put my regular 4k up for sale.

Just got mine from Amazon. The slip is bulging on one side. Steel looks great, it's nice to have a copy with the monster on the art now.

15 years, woo. Saw this with my mother opening weekend, she hated it.

Got mine yesterday thru a ISPU. There was a systems issue at the time of pickup. Their computers weren't allowing the item to be picked up for some reason. Had to cancel/request refund thru my account and buy it right then and there. Manager gave me a nice discount for my troubles. Ended up paying $16.xx

Yeah, I thought at first there was something wrong with the right side of the slipcover. But it's supposed to look that way.

There were three at my BB and when I opened my copy, the slipcover had the aforementioned bulge on the right side front which turned into a dent due to the tightness of the plastic wrap. On top of that, there was a severe horizontal slice across the center of the spine. Thought by now that issue would’ve been fixed after all these years. I went back and they were very understanding and gave me a replacement copy that is near perfect.

Oh, and BB had a 25th anniversary Steelbook of Ghost in the Shell right next to Cloverfield for $16.99! It is gorgeous. Owned!

I can't tell you how many conversations I've had with Best Buy over the years about their handling, packaging, etc of steels and other shipments, up and down the chain...all the way up to the executive level.

I used to work with shipments at the national level so the loss they take in products like this in terms of labor hours (from customers calling in, to the people who handle it on the back end, etc), to having to sort it out with scanvo, the company who requested the steel (disney, warner, etc) and the money they "save" on going with cheaper quality shipping materials (which is not much for a company ordering at the level for places like best buy, amazon, etc…talking the difference of a couple cents between the good stuff and garbage mailers) are all lost when they have to send out replacements, and so on would be save if they did it right the first time, AND properly trained their people to open boxes (it's not that hard to open a box fast AND not slice what's inside like you're trying to go full ninja on the contents).

Now multiply that by the percentage of a 4000+ run they do this with over the number of years they have allowed this to go on.

The short version is they'd rather lose money than fix their system.

Finally got mine at the Amazon locker yesterday. I'm surprised that it has a J-Card and a plastic slip. I don't think I've ever seen that before. BTW for those with bowed out slips. Just push down along the sides like you would when folding paper and it will straighten out.
