WB have given no indication of wanting to re-do any of their 4Ks and given their past even with BD I'd say No, they just don't care.

If this is legit then Fincher may well insist upon it. I don’t think it’s random that of the two titles in Sony’s Columbia Collection v2 to have Dobly, Social Network was one of them. |

I can’t think of any WB catalog title that got Dolby vision on disc.

Not hardly! This is the result of being closed minded and confined in a box for so long and not willing to subject for a change, which is typical for purists. If they hear a SACD recording, they will still prefer the 8-track tape. It's a mindset.

Eh, no. That’s not it at all. There are moments of dialog that are totally covered up in the 7.1 track. The LFE channel is artificially boosted, sometimes to crazy levels. The opening credits have added reverb on the 7.1 that I don’t like at all. And I actually find the immersion better overall on the 5.1 just because of how the sounds are mixed. Just because I happen to prefer one track over the other doesn’t make me “closed-minded”. I just have a preference. And this isn’t about being a purist. If the newer mix sounded better, I’d be the first to admit that. But it doesn’t. If you prefer the 7.1 mix, good for you. Note that I said I hope they INCLUDE the original mix, not that they exclude the 7.1. If you’re advocating for including one and not the other, it seems to me that you’re the one who’s closed-minded.

Uhhh guys he's right though, when all that's available is mediocrity it's the norm and the best thing one can do is be open-minded and roll with it. Perfection isn't everything. Buy product.

Eh? The UHDs were absolutely produced by Warners, if you’re referring to the New Line/MGM thing. If you’re referring to Jackson himself overseeing them at Wingnut then that’s not much different from Bill Pope overseeing the HDR grading of the Matrices, he didn’t own those films and neither does Jackson with the Middle-earth movies. Jackson may have some contractual clout there re: involvement in the process and he may have pushed for DV on disc like I’d imagine Fincher would do for Se7en, but the sole impetus for release came from the studio that owns them, that being Warners.
So yes, those absolutely count as Warners catalogue releases with DV. |
