I am probably in the minority but I would rather have the British version of "The Office" on blu. I think that one is much better than the U.S version. I would also like to have "Coupling" on blu as well.

I wouldnt hold out if I were you. It is most likely going to be a long long time. TV shows are not prioirities and if they didnt do it day and date it probably aint gonna happen. Especially with season 5 starting next week. If Anything, Next year they might, yet unlikely, release the 5th season by itself. You could be waiting years and years for these.

Why would you bump a thread and give wrong information? Gervais and Merchant wrote "The Convict," but they don't actively write for the show.

How long are they going to wait? This is one BD set I'd pay retail for.

Any news/ideas on when seasons 1-4 or a Complete Collection will be released?

What are they waiting for?

In a moment of weakness I purchased the below.

Guess I'm no longer a man of conviction. :-( Was holding out for the full series to be released on Blu-ray (Region A with lossless audio) for all of the above considering I already own each TV series in full on DVD. Just couldn't help myself the other day.

The Office looks (...and sounds) fan-frickin-tastic in HD as do the other shows, especially when viewed on my 120" front projector screen. The DVD's pale in comparison. Worth every penny. The only problem I'm having now is that I long for the earlier seasons of these shows (which were far better than the later seasons) on Blu-ray even more than I did before.

That being said, I only have one thing to say to Fox, Universal and NBC.

Seriously. How lame can you get only offering the later seasons of these shows on Blu-ray and not going back after all this time to give the earlier seasons the Blu-ray treatment they deserve? It may sound silly, but I see this as a sign of disrespect to those of us who have supported these very popular shows for many years as they were airing and being released on DVD year after year, but I digress. Sure, don't take my money. Why would anyone want to experience 24, House and The Office in the best picture and sound quality available? That doesn't make any sense at all. <Insert sarcasm here.>

Need to also give a serious shout out to the "original" version of The Office as well, the British version which I also own on DVD and would purchase all over again day one it if were offered on Blu-ray. Awesome show. Don't come down on either side of the pond though. I like the British and US versions of The Office for different reasons. There's plenty of room for both and there's definitely room for both on Blu-ray.

What is especially disappointing is that Seasons 2, 3, and 4 of The Office are some of the best seasons. It feels like a major omission. And while season one got off to a slow start for me, it's so short it would fit on one Blu-ray disc with no issues.

Couldn't agree more and you're right, Season 1 was only 6 episodes and could easily fit on one BD-50 with plenty of room to spare for any bonus content. The average file size per episode for Seasons 5-9 on Blu-ray was around 5.5 gb on average, so they could even bump each episode for Season 1 up to 7gb each and still have 3gb left over which would be more than enough for any bonus content.

Those slipcover spines look nice.

How will you watch the early seasons of these shows if they have no plans to release them on BD? Stick to your DVDs or upgrade to digital HD?

Not silly at all. Incredibly disrespectful imo.

The complete series of House is available of blu-ray (in a very nice box set). It's region-free and I was able to obtain it from Zavvi a few months ago for $50.

I picked that up as well. It was awesome to finally be able to watch the series from start to finish on Blu-ray.

Well I'm going straight to hell. Perhaps there's a silver lining though. Perhaps the action I took this morning will provoke the Blu-ray Gods to bring Seasons 1-4 of The Office to Blu-ray! It worked for 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea anyway.

Purchased The Office: The Complete Series off iTunes this morning. It's on sale for $24.99 which is a no-brainer. Downloaded the HD episodes for Seasons 1-4 and am almost done liberating each episode (lossless) from the Apple ecosystem. I'll then be re-authoring each season to Blu-ray as I did with Cheers.

(I'd outline the process involved , but doing so is against the forum rules here. Please take such discussions elsewhere.)

In any event, I just thought I'd mention the sale iTunes is having on this. Looking forward to revisiting this series again, but this time in HD from start to finish, Seasons 1-4 in quasi HD on Blu-ray and Seasons 5-9 in premium HD on Blu-ray.
