They advertise "club exclusive format" for the BD+DVD releases they do too as the normal retail versions are just BD+Digital. And this is a triple format release of 4K+BD+DVD - so I think it's totally possible there's a normal 4K+BD at retail simultaneous.

Oh wow, this is real. I might even be willing to return to the DMC for this but only after it's been confirmed if this is indeed a new 4K restoration. If it's just the same Platinum/Diamond/Signature restoration they've been peddling since 2005, then no thank you. I've been burned by Disney too many times when it comes to this film.

The fact that Gus on the cover is in green, and not yellow, could be promising, not that cover art has ever been all that accurate to the contents of the disc within.

I hope this isn't going to be a trend in future putting 4ks as DMC exclusives. The rest of us in the world w p uld still love to buy these too

DMC lists it as a Exclusive Format which is generally their label when they add an extra disc (usually the DVD) which isn't usually found in wide release products. I'd say 90-95% there will be a normal wide release with 4KUHD, BD, and DC only. |

Nothing in the description, the DMC banners, or Cover art indicates it's an exclusive. Has there been a confirmation somewhere that there won't be a normal 4k release? There is also BBY 4K Steelbook exclusive. It's a bit late for a normal preorder to go active, but it's not unheard of for Disney's to go live less than 2 weeks pre-release. EDIT: I did see the odd listing on DMI in the Strange World 4K thread. I hadn't noticed that before and makes it even stranger than DMC doesn't list it as exclusive in any variety. I wonder if this was a very late change in release versions or if something else is going on. Last edited by hariseldon; 01-24-2023 at 07:35 AM. |

Hoping this "exclusive" is just adding a DVD as exclusive and it gets a wide release without it because that'll just mean the 4K probably gets stacked to add in the DVD... and I also don't want to rejoin DMC after just leaving because their reliance on nonsense repackaged "exclusives" to slap a new cover on them. I'll rejoin if I have to, but I don't want to yet lol

There's been a few of them, Hocus Pocus and Thor: Love & Thunder BD sets had "club exclusive format" where it had a DVD included where the wide version didn't. |

Disney used "Club Exclusive Format" to describe the 2022 BD+DVD+DC releases of Frankenweenie and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Nightmare Before Christmas was originally released on Blu-ray in 2008 and Frankenweenie in 2013
https://facebook.com/DisneyMovieClub...633508/?type=3 Doctor Strange into the Multiverse of Madness BD+DVD+DC with an exclusive slipcover was also referred to as a "Club Exclusive Format" https://facebook.com/DisneyMovieClub...9646514414091/ |

Very curious to see how the traditional animated Disney classics translate to 4K... which will naturally be a reflection of transfer/mastering/processing choices made by the studio. While normally I'm a purist who wants natural film-grain preserved, I find myself less zealous on that point when it comes to animation as the "film" is not the primary artform for me emotionally... it's the hand-painted animated cells themselves (which were beautifully rendered on many of the blu-ray editions despite DNR to remove film grain). In any case, my first choice would be something that faithfully preserves, as closely as possible, the original camera negative capture. Very interested to see what happens...
