I wonder how they'll continue Woody's story after his newfound atheism and realizing he doesn't need to serve a god in order to have purpose in life.

I hope this one where woody Returns with the other toys cause I thought Pixar’s movies aren’t sad in the end.

I still maintain that 3 was the perfect ending to the franchise. I liked 4- it looked beautiful, but it felt ultimately unnecessary, and most of the toys didn't have anything to do. I don't hate it, but I didn't exactly need it. I kinda feel the same about 5, but knowing me and my love for Pixar, not only will I see it, but I'll probably still like it. They're all comfort movies for me. Bring it on.

I feel the same, the first 3 are a great trilogy, the fourth felt like an epilogue/victory-lap to the original story and that's what it is in my mind. I honestly don't know what they can do for a 5th unless they massively expand the world they're in

I want to be optimistic, because Pixar has had far more hits than misses.

I maintain that TS4 should've been titled 'Woody and Bo' or something less definitive as "Toy Story". The rest of the gang are barely involved, and the journey really is about Woody realising he doesn't need to live for a kid anymore, which has been a three film struggle for him.

It's definitely an epilogue or coda. TS3's ending seems perfect, but it's not. It's just the same doomed cycle starting again, and from that POV Woody's journey wasn't remotely close to being over.

TS5 however? There's nowhere to go there outside of the toys all coming to the same conclusion as Woody. This is why I wouldn't mind a Disney series. That could be a series of silly, fun independant (or arcing) adventures that take place in Bonnie's house not too dissimilar from the half an hour specials they did. A movie however merits a 'huge' emotional journey (particularly at this point in the narrative) and I can't see how there's ANYTHING left.

All over Toy Story 5. Couldn't care less about the other two. I must not get it but how is Frozen considered even in the same breath as TS? Let alone making more bucks?

Frozen is crack for toddlers.
With that being said, they are just devaluing the Toy Story franchise by continuing it. To me it's obvious that it's being forced upon Pixar by Bob Iger and a forced sequel might be decent but not really good. To the point where Toy Story is viewed in the same way Frozen is.

Pixar already had their spate of "forced sequels" in the early 2010s (Finding Dory, Monsters University, Cars 2 & 3), so to see them revert to it AGAIN (especially when three out of their last four movies - the original ones - got burned on D+) is depressing. Disney's hurting for money, and is gonna squeeze every last drop out of their franchiseable IPs while they can.

At this point it's no different than those horrible DTV sequels, add the remakes to that as well...but people were so happy that Bob Iger is back!

The only difference between these current Disney sequels and the old DTV "cheapquels" are the production values are much higher.

You're forgetting that for the most part, the DTV sequels weren't made by any of the same people who did the originals, while these current sequels are.

The Rescuers Down Under already preemptively took away the excuse for why the sequels so soon after it looked so cheap.

The next thing you know, a whole mob of people are going to storm Emeryville with torches and pitchforks to force Pixar to cancel production of this movie.
