Heads-up.. just checked on my Amazon order to see where it's at.. and saw nothing but terrible reviews.
Apparently it's ruined by editing choices going way over the top; lots of 1/2 second clips cut together rapid-speed similar to the latest Resident Evil movie. I'm not a fan of a static camera for concerts, but this one seemed to have at least a dozen cameras out in the audience, ceilings, performers, stage, props.. Rammstein always puts on an awesome show, so it's a serious shame they "ruined it". On top of the cuts, it looks like the cheezy effects are another issue (adding fake lighting to the performers throughout the show) alongside other poor filters. Saw a clip and looks like someone ran it through Movie Maker with every effect ![]() |

It's pretty clear that both the video and audio have been substantially altered from what they were live. |

I haven't seen that clip yet, but it doesn't look as bad as some have said.
The one that got me was this clip: Mostly the fake "security camera" black and white effect they keep using.. on Du Hast they had fake lightning bolts edited in. Definitely a shame that they have so many issues. I'll keep my copy since it was cheap ($13/amazon) but seems to be a trend with a lot of music releases on Blu lately.. I guess it's just the new style? |

I watched a bit of the BD this afternoon.
There is 2 options : DTS HD MA 5.1 and PCM 2.0. AQ on the 5.1 is very good. If you have Rammstein in Amerika, it's pretty much in line with this one. It's bombastic, with quite a good use of the rear speakers. PQ is very good, but you have to bear with the awful edit. And the awful on-screen titles at the beginning of each song. And the stupid SFX like the added lightning bolts on Du Hast (though this kind of SFX is very rare). Or the "fake B&W security camera footage" filter. Etc etc. I had already some concerns about this on Rammstein in Amerika, where I found the edit to be already quite too fast. It's not Prodigy bad, but it wasn't that far away. Rammstein Paris is Prodigy bad. It hurts the show mise-en-scène by mismatching energy and frenzy. You can't enjoy the show because the shots are simply too short, there are too many framing changes, and in the end, you can't see what's going on anymore or who is where. Pretty much, the edits follows the drum pace of each song, so you can imagine how bad it can be. Even Engel is ruined despite the awesome scenography. |

I'm afraid to watch it now. I can't stand those quick cuts, except perhaps for short periods of time when they fit the song. I actually thought Rammstein in Amerika did a good job. Lots of different angles and cuts, but they were slightly longer and edited in a way that you could follow the performance.

Finally got to watch Paris. It was interesting. I see what people don't like but at the same times its supposed to be a stylistic film. (the butterfly coming out of till's mouth was a little silly during one point).
If you have In Amerika then you have the concert itself, If you want more stylized version with better quality picture then Paris is for you. Get both and you have the best of Rammstein. If your a super fan then you will or should like Paris. if your casual then maybe you wont like it. Either way, cant get enough Rammstein. |

My copy arrived a few days ago. I watched it twice in its entirety to sample out the stereo and lossless tracks and I dug them both. This version of Büch Dich was the craziest version I've ever seen them do. It was like a full blown (no pun intended) bondage/theater/punk/metal performance.
They did add a ton of stylistic flourishes and it does have plenty of quick edits but it's fine. I want to know who the model is draped in the American flag during the Amerika performance -- you even see her tits for a second. She's gorgeous. |
