Yeah, at least 3 had good set pieces.

Would be great if Williamson came back to write for this franchise again.

I really like all the Scream films. I thought 6 improved on 5 in every way and I really liked 5. Some ebbs and flows but even the "weakest" entries aren't bad movies like most other horror franchises. I think Scream is the most consistent horror franchise and now that it's 6 films in that's impressive.

While I suppose I enjoy it enough (Parker Posey is EVERYTHING), Scream 3 is so bad, I basically consider it to be its own entity. Were it not for this new film, where he's actually mentioned, Roman Bridger wouldn't be a blip on the Scream radar. That whole twist/plotpoint was so ridiculous, and the fact that he's not even mentioned in Scream 4, where Sidney is basically surrounded by her mother's family (only two people, but still), who you think would at least say something about it at some point, speaks volumes. Were he not mentioned in VI, you could easily show someone the first, second, and fourth films, and that person would have no clue they missed anything. I won't say Scream 3 is the worst, as that's kinda subjective, but it's definitely the throwaway of the franchise.

I wrote it in the scream 6 thread:

I don't have as much issue with Radio Silence's films as others, but I view them as just competent slashers rather than Scream movies, which is why I rank Scream 3 and Scream 4 above Scream 5 and Scream 6, because despite not being perfect, they still had something interesting to comment about the genre, while the RS films don't really have anything... I also prefer how Wes went for suspense rather than brutality, which seems to be RS M.O.

Don't make me want to come up with my own best of Scream list I liked 5 on 4K, and I think I'll like 6 but that runtime has me worried, but looking at data it's only 10 minutes longer than 5. Anyway fam will be at the theatres again for this series in 2 days. Keeping this series in its rightful top spot.

I honestly don’t think any of the Scream films are bad. It’s not like other slasher franchises with at least a couple films you only watch to survive through (Halloween Resurrection, Jason Takes Manhattan, Freddy’s Dead, etc).

Jason Takes Manhattan is fun! And nowhere near as bad as Jason X. If it had a different title people would like it more.

I admit I don’t hate it as much as some people. I just listed it because a lot of people do. Actually my least favorite F13 is Part 5. That film was too ridiculous even for F13 standards, and barely even tried to tell much of a story. It just introduced a bunch of random characters only to kill them off immediately. At least Part 6 had a lot of fun with the characters and set pieces.

That's my thinking when it comes to F13th being the best then Scream. The rest have so many stinkers in their catalog it's hard to have any time for them. Or do we consider NOES and SCREAM all in the same universe with 2 different killers? Hmm now it gets tricky. Really close. Maybe we get a Ghostface Vs. Jason soon haha.

Nah. Scream directly references those films, so it’s definitely a different universe. Though it gets confusing since Halloween H20 has Scream 2 playing on a TV.

I adore 5. It’s absurd and sleazy and really funny.

That's a long wait. Normally it's a three month window between theatrical release and Blu-ray release. I would have thought the release date would be in June.

I guess there won't be a 3D Blu-ray?

Yeah, I always refer to it as Scream 5. It was stupid to not include the '5' in the title. If someone is talking about "Scream" you immediately wonder if they're talking about the 1996 original or Scream 5 (2022).

Hollywood studios have done this stupid practice with many horror films over the years.

The Final Destination (2009) is too close to Final Destination (2000). It should be titled Final Destination 4 (2009).

Halloween (2018). Great, now we have three movies titled Halloween (1978, 2007, 2018). Why not Halloween Returns? (Returns, Kills, Ends)

Then you have sequels that do have different titles, but still omit the sequel number.

Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers < Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers

Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter < Friday the 13th, Part IV: The Final Chapter

It's dumb.
