Art isn't depressing. The sate of politics is depressing.

Anyway my A24 blu came and it's still unopened proudly sitting in my collection. What a beautiful thing. Best film of the last 10 years.

Got my replacement, the first took 2 days to arrive and this took but this one took 2 days to even get picked up by USPS (wasn't on a weekend so that's not why) and then 4 days to arrive... so that's weird.

The bottom is still a little weird, you can tell on the front where it's meant to bend, but it's bending lower than that and so it sticks out... but at least this one wasn't torn like they tried to pull it off and fix it, I was able to smash it in a little to bend it correctly enough to slide in and out easily enough. The disc is cracked though, which sucks because the other had a few little spots at the end of the data near the edge, but I'll test the disc and see if it works first. Hope everybody else has had better experience with their manufacturing lol

I didn't know much about this movie except that it was critically well received and it was about a father and daughter. I'd been eyeing it in the A24 shop for about a year now. I kept holding out since I mostly just purchase UHDs these days, but I decided to add it to my order of Pi. I watched it last night.

This movie knocked my socks off. Even putting into words is difficult. Genuinely one of the best movies I've ever seen and a miracle of cinematic storytelling. I'm tearing up a bit right now just thinking about it. Its going to be with me for a while.

Great release. PQ was lovely. As was the audio.

Just now getting around to buying this film. Are there any differences in video/audio quality between the A24 and MUBI releases? I am not as concerned about the extras, but mostly just wondering which is the best presentation of the film. Thanks!

The front goes further down which makes it difficult to get it out of the box (you can see where it's intended to be bent but it's bent lower down instead) and on the inside it looks like they tried to correct it but it started to tear so they just left it alone. Contacted A24 about it.

Marcel the Shell had no problems, looks great and no scratches, and no wrong format sent like people were getting when it first came out.
Mine arrived today. Mine has the same exact problem with the box, and it has big creases along the top. The art cards were just laying on top of the disc inside. I got two cards of Frankie. The disc has several scratches. I contacted A24 for a replacement. My Marcel the Shell has the same thing. And a big crease on the box but only one tiny scratch near the edge of the disc, but I'm still asking for a replacement. This is ridiculous, terrible, and sh*tty QC.

I went through three copies of this, and every single one came with scratches on the disc. I kept the one with the least amount of scratches and moved on. The Mexico pressing plant is dog shit. Thankfully A24 has
great customer service.

I only had to get one replacement. The disc had a few scratches and the inner plastic was cracked, and the packaging was glued weird... but the replacement was either scratch free or didn't have enough problems to keep bothering with so I checked and it played through.

I had the same problem with We Live In Time, big circular scratches that caused problems. I got a refund. Weirdly enough, the 4K I have (Marcel) had no packaging problems or scratches lol

But yes, the Mexico plant needs some serious supervision, it's terrible. All kinds of scratches and stains.

Yeah, all three were glued weird or not folded properly, so I'm guessing most, if not all, are like that. I just kept the Marcel disc that had a light scratch on the very edge. It played fine, but it's annoying. As for aftersun, I tested and kept the one with 3 light scratches near the edge—not ideal, but it is what it is.

For what its worth I pre-ordered mine directly from A24 and my packaging is in decent shape. I didn't notice any incorrect gluing or scratched discs. I am one to know the pain of such things, I'm just lucky in that, so far, I haven't had anything show up from A24 with issues. Knock on wood, because I haven't watched 100% of the discs, yet.

Haven't watched the A24 disc but the MUBI one, which I own, looks wonderful and I'd bet on MUBI having the stronger encode, though someone who has seen both can correct me if I'm wrong!
