Specs:
[Show spoiler]
Quote:
Celebrated as the ‘Godfather of British Horror’, Pete Walker is one of the most controversial exploitation filmmakers of the ‘60s and ‘70s. Graduating from saucy sex comedies and gangland dramas, Walker finally found tabloid infamy making gore-splattered horror movies (or “terror movies” as he preferred to call them). His first X-rated thriller Die Screaming, Marianne shocked audiences, and subsequent films like House of Whipcord established his reputation for sadistic and bloody horror, cementing his status as the biggest cult British filmmaker of his generation.

Now for the very first time, Walker’s seventies’ horror movies are collected on Blu-ray in this terrifying new box-set, starring a host of famous faces: Robin Askwith (Horror Hospital), Stephanie Beacham (Inseminoid), Ann Michelle (Virgin Witch), Susan Penhaligon (The Uncanny), Luan Peter (Hammer’s Lust for a Vampire) and his favourite actress, and omnipresent ‘scary old lady’, Sheila Keith. The Pete Walker Heritage Collection brings together Die Screaming, Marianne (1971), The Flesh and Blood Show (1972), House of Whipcord (1974), Frightmare (1974), House of Mortal Sin (1976) Schizo (1977) and The Comeback (1978), all presented here in restored masters, and featuring a scary array of exclusive extras, including brand-new interviews with Walker himself.

A shame there's no new scan/restoration of Frightmare, but 88's strategy here seems to have been to do brand new masters only for those titles previously released on Blu in the UK.

I preorderd through Orbit back in June. Their price is fair enough being that the set contains seven films.

Yes that's pretty disappointing on Frightmare with it being my favourite of the set. I shall be waiting for reviews.

11mm cases - phew.

Mind you, 6mm would have been even better.

Not gonna lie, I've very ok with it getting pushed to 2024 as Q4 2023 is killing my wallet as is and they haven't even announced December releases!!

HMV are now listing this as *back in stock soon*. This is resulting in them wanting to charge for the full amount just to be able to place an order. A bit frustrating as I just wanted to put in an order with the 20% discount on HMV.

Has anybody placed an order with them recently? Are they taking full payment or is it similar to Zavvi whereby you need the funds available just at the point of purchase even though they don't debit you the amount until nearer the dispatch date.

Was really peeved off to find out yesterday that the 3d in Flesh and Blood Show is only in anaglyph. Massive let down after waiting for this.

Yeah, massively disappointing. A wasted opportunity that condemns the 3D segment of this movie to never be seen in it's proper glory. Even Redemption included a proper 3D version, albeit in dreadful quality.

What I don't understand is the reference in the specs to the 3D sequence being included in 2D. Seeing as how it is already included in 2D as part of the film itself, what's the point of having it separately viewable also in 2D?

Watching 3D content in 2D is like watching colour content in black and white.

Is this Deluxe Collector's Edition sold out or is it going to be available for sale on 88's site (again?)?

I'd prefer to buy it from DiabolikDVD but its Out of Stock at the moment.

It has not gone up for pre-order yet at 88's site, still available at all the usual sites too.

88, could you please tell us why we are only getting an anaglyph 3d for Flesh and Blood Show please? Some of us have been waiting and hoping for a good 3d release of this film for some time, and not doing it in BD3D is immensely disappointing for us.
