I would hope that at some point in the very near future, algorithms or even AI is so advance that they can do all the 3D calculations in real time. So your device of choice can actually convert 2D to 3D in real time with almost perfect results. My sony bdp-s6700 does a somewhat barely acceptable job. So the tech is already out there. Or maybe someone will do a kickstarter for a device you plug between your source and the screen/projector that does this, kinda like the DarbeeVision.

It’s listed as playing in 3D at this theater. Three 3D showings on June 1st and four on June 2nd, for starters. But I suppose it could very well be a misprint.

Welp, new trailer is out on the Sony Pictures India channel that highlights Pavitr Prabhakar (Spider-Man India) and there is absolutely no doubt that this film is made for the 3D experience. That bracelet is meant to pop out of the screen in 3D, and I was screaming "THIS IS 3D MATERIAL!" throughout. It would be such a shame if Sony doesn't release this in 3D, and I'm not expecting it (especially after looking at the formats on the new poster below) but I've got my fingers crossed for the 3D release nonetheless.

Was that version of spider-man playing Diabolo?

I guess this will end up to be shown only flat. Also a big German IMAX 3D cinema is listing this as (2D). Same with Flash. What a shame for these 2 movies.

Some on Fakebook are reporting that Epic theaters have lots of 3D listings. I don't have any in my area to confirm. Not sure, other than Florida, what areas of the US they are in.

Contents will start to arrive in theaters in a week which means barring a glitch on the DCP the prints are final at this point! i already posted what a sales manager from Sony sent out to owners and booking companies to be passed onto theater management, too bad most here don't bother clicking on it, so to save you time there was no 3D as an option. all those show times you're seeing will drop or changed to 2D. I don't want to be the theater manager now having to deal with some angry customers, there goes some free passes...

Sorry to ask you this since it isn't the right thread, but do you happen to know when Flash tickets will go on sale?

As I understand it, the film was only completed at the end of last week. They practically made it twice, it was a long production and a lot of content was produced and then later scrapped. It's not getting a stereo version, there wasn't even enough time for it to be done properly.

Real shame as the first one is an outstanding 3D experience!

Same old excuse. I don't buy none of those "until last week production". Now that serves for everything to just scrap the 3D on every movie recently. If they don't want the movies to be in 3D just don't give false expectations. They are just hyping on the back of 3D at first to get traction... then they just toss like there was no time at all for it. 3 years weren't enough to make it and do a 3D version?

Haha although that is an interesting concept, there's no anti-3D conspiracy afoot behind the scenes here, just a messy production that has faced challenges in the years since work began on the film in 2018. I mean, surely you know it's been delayed twice... Many of those working on the film want to see it in 3D too!

Man, I SO can’t wait until AI 3D conversion tools get advanced enough to make DIY conversions easier and better.

I'm not saying it's a anti-3D conspiracy... I'm saying they're using 3D to create momentum and then just drop it with those excuses. The movie is animated... what the hell has been so messy to delay or to complicate things up? Did one or several actors almost in the end of the filming got fired and needed to be replaced? Or Sony's servers were hacked and the already developed product was leaked?

Lately that "same old same old" is just an escape route to appease the angry mob that would ensue after if there was no justified explanation. To say the production was messy then they should have fired the responsible director or both(one of them is Portuguese descendent, and I'm ashamed for that as portuguese people have great reputation around the world for being good at what they do). They must have been playing PS5 Spider-man's game and a few months ago they realized that the movie still didn't begin production.

Don't believe everything they say because if it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck, then why they say it's a Platypus? Nonsense is what I say to their excuses.

Well, can't source about the production staff wanting to see it in 3D without being rude haha. However, the production issues are well-known, and even the actors have spoke about the last-minute changes so that much is out in public by now. You will probably be happy to note that much of that lies with the script, not the direction.

Ok, one is about rumours and I don't care for those the other is about things that usually happens when voice acting and some other rumours.

Where is all the mess up? Were full scenes lost and they had to redo them? Was Sony victim of ransomware? An extremely unhappy employee cut the power while they were producing the movie?

I guess last minute line changes were a bigger priority than 3D. I will enjoy them at home at a much later date.

Yeah, but digital animation is easy to change and to create. If it was handdrawn it would be other story and I'd buy that.

If it comes out in 2D I too will see this at home or even not giving it much a thought to watch. I gain much more by watching Into the Spider-verse in 3D than watching this one in 2D.

You still have to finalize the movie before you create the stereo 3D version, whether it's a native render or a conversion. Sounds like they didn't finalize the film until weeks before the release, not enough time to make a 3D version, and chose not to delay the release date again. Procrastination and missed deadlines are expected for a community college term paper but pretty lame for a professional megabudget studio blockbuster.
