I feel similarly. I see from your avatar that you're a MoS fan. It's my favorite of the DC movies since TDK and is a shame they won't continue with the universe. My curiosity is piqued with seeing this and having a final outing of this version of DC, but I also don't want to "reward" WB/DC for completely mucking this thing up in the first place.

I love Zod and Faora and '89 Batman, but I can't get past what looks to be shoddy effects in this end of an era I was so enthusiastic about that was never really given a solid 2nd chance from the studio.

It's always possible that what you see in the trailer includes unfinished VFX work

Michael Shannon returning as Zod, Michael Keaton returning as Batman, heck, even Ben Affleck returning as Batman, all things worth checking out in theaters IMO along with the new Supergirl.

Hopefully Miller gives a good performance as The Flash...

But when I heard it won't be in 3D, that's not too hopeful. And what about Aquaman 2? The 3D in the first one was great IMO, medium to strong 3D layering.

He played several Marvel super heroes. He's also in Kick Ass and is the Spider-Man Noir in the Into the Spider-verse movie.

And we will finally see him as Superman. Flash will be.the last comic book movie ill pay to see (except for Joker 2)
When they cant even be bothered with 3D for these things, i cant be bothered to keep attending. And now that DC is going towards a more kiddie-friendly mode, ill just wait for video.

giant tvs are becoming the norm in alot of houses, so for what reason do ppl have to waste time going to the theater for movies that aren't in 3d? lack of pop-outs ruined everything for the ppl i did manage to get to the 3d shows. is it more expensive to use negative parallax/popouts? 3d was so much better in 2015 jurassic world than 2022 dominion. it's so frustrating watching my favorite format being snatched away

Same. Though strong 3D, even without popout, has left an impression with the average moviegoer in my experience. But even that is few and far between, somehow modern 3D became a format for 3D enthusiasts only.

I hope someone else will link 'em as I can't at the moment, but there has been at least one official interview and another candid statement by modern 3D stereoscopic professionals posted here that, to paraphrase, explain we don't get much strong popout nowadays is because they don't believe it belongs in the movies.

It's really a shame this will never be seen in 3D because it would have been AMAZING.

The movie is being shown in 1.90 in IMAX screens, and the opportunities for 3D popouts were simply unbelievable.

Nice job, WB

This is 100% David Zaslav. The guy spent his career in TV and cable and turned the Discovery brand into an endless stream of low cost and often low brow reality shows. Thanks to his "spend as little as possible" TV show mentality this is the third new DC film not to get a 3D treatment. Coincidentally it's also the third new DC film I don't have to bother buying.

But don't worry, although he won't invest money in DC movies he was still willing to take a 3M base salary, 22M bonus and 190M in stock.

I was gonna say this same thing Warner Bros/DC this includes the CNN network with it's recent changes is now being led by a man who's a cheapskate who sees more value in reality TV and less in scripted shows, since he's joined he's now cut spending at Warner by 3.5 billion. If all the DC and Warner TV show cancellations haven't said anything along with Superman & Lois getting a fourth shorter season with a much more reduced budget doesn't say anything. It's ashame many of the movies at Warner Bros that could've and should be in 3D in the last 3 years aren't, I'm surprised The Meg 2 is even getting a 3D release with it being the only upcoming Warner Bros film available in the 3D format.

No offense to OP, but what is the purpose of [Never in 3D] threads? There is nothing 3D-specific to talk about regarding this movie, unless you want to hypothesise what it might've looked like if it was in 3D.

If you want to talk about the movie just use the Movies thread, or is the 3D section so cut off from the rest of the forum that it needs it's own discussion.

From what I've learned some people like to discuss the "Never in 3D" movies because of the missed opportunities for those movies not being in 3D ever.

I also preffer not to have these threads, but most like to chat about it.

That being said... I saw the last trailer for The Flash and it should be a great 3D movie since it has lots of vertigo inducing shots. And the story seems to be really great. Oh hell, I'll watch it for free on premium channells.

Off-Topic: Saw last night for the first time The Suicide Squad... what was James Gunn thinking when he made that? I didn't liked the movie at all.

WB were originally sending out promos to cinema projectionists claiming The Flash and Awuaman 2 would be in 3D only a few months back. Most likely this is a conversion that was cancelled. I think it had merit to discuss based on that.

There is no real purpose except to inform people that the film was never released in 3D, sometimes there's a debate about these things.

Usually threads like this are started by someone getting overexcited when they see something on Facebook or a poster, jumping the gun and creating the thread before 3D is actually confirmed. The choice then is between locking or deleting the thread, or leaving it to die a natural death once everyone has got their complaints about the lack of 3D out of their systems.

Since people still want to post in this thread and aren't getting into aggressive socio-political discussions about Ezra Miller it seems churlish to lock or close it but in principle you are right, people should really just use one of the existing threads. There's one for the film, one for spoiler talk, one for the 4K disc etc etc.

I went to see it in IMAX last night and throughout the film it felt like I was watching a flat version of a 3D film. It was very, very obviously intended to be converted to 3D.

Multiple sequences including the end credits were clearly designed with 3D in mind and as they haven’t been converted, really expose the shoddy CGI that a lot of people will be complaining about.

This is exactly what I also thought while watching parts of the Black Adam trailer. These DC 3D versions were canceled at some point... I also think that 3D helps a lot to let CGI feel more natural and merged with the movie.

The 3D would have absolutely helped with the CGI. Most of the big set piece scenes look horrid in The Flash, particularly the baby shower scene which has so much going on it that it’s confusing to watch. There’s no depth or layering to the CGI so everything is just pasted there up front. Difficult to explain, but these scenes clearly weren’t designed to be seen flat.

I don’t think I’ve ever experienced a film where the lack of 3D has impacted so badly on the finished product. It truly is flawed and is a wasted opportunity to have delivered an outstanding 3D experience.
