Not sure if it was mentioned, there was also the tv show Bring ‘Em Back Alive (with the replacement Babylon 5 commander), which ran around the same time as Tales of the Gold Monkey

I think an honorable mention should be given to "Secret of the Incas" as it's a super-obvious inspiration for Raiders of the Lost Ark.

African Queen is a good call. I recently watched King Solomon's Mines and Secret of the Incas and I get the influence but boy are they a slog.

African Queen is far more engaging and quite a great story with that right level of love interest antagonism a good Indy film had.
