Does the unrated part have the more bloody elements that they mention they cut down in the commentary?

And yes, as many have already previously mentioned, the banding on the Blu-ray is quite bad, especially during the night scenes when the red beacon is on. |

![]() Suffice to say the banding is terrible on both but you'd expect that from streaming services, not a pressed blu-ray disc! Can only think that the distributor just straight up used the file that the online digital platforms have. Either way, we'll all be hoping for something better from the 4K disc. |

I bought the UK blu on day one and then picked it up on Apple movies for 2€ and the picture on Apple movies is crisper than the Blu-ray. Which sucks.

This is what I wrote when I saw the movie. Quote:
The first think I would say is that if you have a fear of heights this is not the movie for you. There are many, many shots of very large heights meant to make you uncomfortable. When I saw it last year I had to take many breaks because it was making me so antsy and emotional. And I don't have a fear of heights. I did much better this run, only needed 2 breaks. It helps knowing exactly what's going to happen and when. If you can stand it, it's a great movie and a great ride. It's also an incredible technical accomplishment, both practically and with CG. Most of what you see is real and filmed on a miniature tower, and the girls did all their own stunts so most of the movie looks very real. [Show spoiler] When I out in the UHD I got the region lock message. I could have blown a gasket. I keep the Oppo on Region B because it's a pain in the *** to change the region and that way I have a player ready to go for Region B stuff and UHD is 98% region free anyway. Often when I put a blu-ray in it (usually to watch specials) I don't know if it's going to work because the region locks don't really get posted. But the PS3 is all ready to go for blu-rays so when I put in a BD I'm always hoping it just plays but if it doesn't I sight and boot up the PS3. I never would have thought such a big movie released by a major label in the USA would be region locked with the java BS. I guess the closest equivalent is Greenland? But there's no NA release of that on UHD. I spent 10 minutes trying to change the Region to A because I *really* did not want to use the PS5. It hs a game disc in it and the media remote for that is dead. After 10 minutes of messing with it I couldn't get the region changed and my [redacted] was on the way so I finally just put it in the PS5. This was a mistake. I couldn't figure out how to hit "play" on the PS5 remote. X button doesn't work (turns out it's circle, wtf? that's cancel) I googled and all I cold find was PS4 which is X, duh. I got it playing but only with opening the full controls menu every time I wanted to do something. Rewinding and pausing were a pain. Finally when the [redacted] came I decided to give one more try on the Oppo and the region changed first try (tested with SATS BD first which I know is A, because I think stop-resume may have been bringing me back to the wrong region screen). So then I was finally able to enjoy the rest of the movie on the Oppo. Sorry for my first posts about the region. I was just so mad. The picture is really good. It is unfortunately HDR-10 which was kind of disappointing since most stuff is Dolby Vision now. it still looked really good and great in 4K! I did not notice the banding that has been mentioned. Not on the tower reveal scene either. I watched that again today. I also don't see it on the BD. However, my screen has plenty of burn in after watching 6000 movies so yes it has "banding" but it always does. I just don't see any from the movie or it seems mild if it's there. Anyway, the picture is very detailed and I think is worth an upgrade. I used headphones for this and the sound was really good, particularly the sections with howling wind though those aren't that common. Specials are the behind the scenes and a music video, and a new 15 minutes featurette which is only on the UHD. All specials are 1080P, including the one that is exclusive to the UHD and not on the BD, go figure. The BD just has the behind the scenes and music video. But the behind the scenes is better and more informative than the new featurette so while it's nice you're not missing too much if you've seen the other behind the scenes. I also wanted to say the case is really nice and is how a steelbook is done right! I like steel books but hate how they just stick a floating piece of paper with it as the back cover and you have to somehow keep them together. This has a slipcover case with the steelbook and stays on it easily. It's also really cool how it's day on the out cover and night on the inner cover. It's a great movie with a great 4K release so I would highly recommend this if you have a region A or region switchable player! |

In terms of compression and the improvements that will have on the video quality, it simply has to be. As has been discussed as nauseum in this thread already, the U.S. and UK Blu-rays are arguably the most poorly compressed discs of the last year.
