Not exactly. During the recap in the sequel, there are ~6 extra frames of gore. Turbine edited them back into the original film. It's not the original cut that was trimmed to satisfy the MPAA.

I've always read that those extra frames were also supposed to be in the original.

the scarlet box is nice. and this is such a nitpick. but l wish it would be announced “we’re including everything from the previous release.” which shouldn’t be as difficult because they had to license it or produce stuff for the previous versions.

the video is one thing, but like that cool book? even if you just gave it as a pdf. now i have to have two sets on my shelf for just four movies lol.

i wouldn’t even mind spending a little more money if it meant that i had ALL the supplemental material from the scarlet box. might they announce these extras are included later? quite possibly. i’m already gonna get it. but for something like hellraiser, i absolutely love all the extra stuff.

will this lead to a new appreciation for part III? most likely not. it’s not horny and pinhead spends too much time on hard light. but to not be distracted by framing is nice.

will part IV be an interesting mess and we will still wonder what could have been if not for interference? yes.

not to tangent, it never makes sense to interfere with a property that is so popular for being new and original. and it’s doubly hilarious when you think about all the DTV stuff. they literally went in bloodline from shying away from explaining like the last movie to trying to shoehorn the cenobites into other scripts just so they could call them hellraiser.

i am very excited to see julia in 4K. the textures in the first one might really pop in HDR.

Oh yeah, 100% the prices will be switched around (£60 for UHD/£30 for BD)

So they've totally dropped the huge doco from their original discs?

Might hold off on this if so, that was top notch stuff.

So is the book 200 all new pages, or the original book with a few new bits added in?

This is great news, and I'll pre-order it as soon as it shows up at Diabolik/Orbit... the first 2 Hellraiser films remain at the top for my favorite Horror films ever. I'm glad Bloodline is finally getting a good release also.

Could be due to licensing of it, but the doc was always the shorter cut on the old release anyway.

Hellbound looks good visually, but the story and script are a mess. III and IV are even worse. This is just my opinion, of course.

Some old Anchor Bay stuff is missing too, if that leaked list is complete. It's like most of the documentary material is getting dropped to make room for their new stuff.

So I hope we get a site exclusive with a 5th disc mopping it all up.

Otherwise I need to hang onto the Scarlet Box, which I'd rather not do as it's so big!

I'm surprised they got Bloodline (for UK) as well - isn't that one with Paramount? Or is it only in US? Also, I wonder if they got workprint directly from Kevin Yagher himself...

Quote:
He confirmed this to some fans that were attending Texas Frightmare 2018 telling them that not only does he have his director’s cut, but all the cuts that he made to try and appease the studio. There have been different running times thrown around for the director’s cut with Yagher claiming his cut ran 11o minutes in an old Fangoria interview done back in 1996, but recently he’s gone on record that his versions ran from ninety-four to sixty-six minutes.

Arrow's UK Store does ship to the US, but go with DiabolikDVD. I've ordered from Arrow a few times to get site exclusives. While they arrived intact, they pack things horribly. My copy of the Tenebrae Limited Edition and Phenomena Limited Edition both arrived in boxes that barely fit the set. IF they hit a single big drop, they'd probably have split the set's outer box.

Plus, usually it ends up being slightly cheaper to order from DiabolikDVD (for me at least).

-----------------------------------------

This set has been on my Arrow Wish List for a while, I willed it into existance with my post early yesterday. Now they need to get on C.H.U.D. and The Stuff in 4K!
