Yep. it looks like shipping went up quite a bit from the brave archer release. $40 CAD vs $27 CAD shipping for BA. Oh well, preordered since it is SF store exclusive and I love these two actors but I wish the artwork was (way) better. The artwork doesn't even match with the other sets.

Expect to pay an extra 30$ if you get dinged by customs, That's about what I was charged for Shaw Classics vol 1, I wanted the poster but that extra kick in the teeth made me switch to Amazon.ca for volumes 2 and 3.

Still I'm a sucker for punishment because I pre-ordered this set from Shout without hesitation.

I wish they worked something out with Unobstructed View with these SF exclusives for Canadians.

I will agree that the artwork is pretty terrible. Doesn’t even hardly resemble the two stars IMO. Calling Kung Fu Bob!

The good news is the art on the individual cases will be nice since they use original artwork. I am surprised they got a different artist since it now doesn't match the others.

All these sets are using the old Celestial masters right? Noting here is newly restored? Still, aside from the vol 1 set, these are must haves.

The art dosen't seem so bad to me, if that's indeed gold trim i see its gonna look pretty snazzy against the red backdrop.

I'm hoping someone will pick up the Shaw exploitation films like Sexy Killer and Deadly Angels(I do have the german release) and also the Bond like spy films like Angel With the Iron Fists and its sequel , Summons to Death , Golden Buddha, and Temptress of a Thousand Faces.

Hey, if cmac or another people at Shout is reading this, for the next deal, you could get these movies and release these themed boxsets:

A female centered one with movies like: Intimate Confessions Chinese Courtesan, 14 Amazons, Lady Hermit, Vengeance Snow Girl, Lady with a Sword, The Young Avenger, Lady Assassin, Black Butterfly, Lady of the Law, Silver Fox, Heads for Sale.

Underrated wuxias from the early 70s: The Black Tavern, Duel for Gold, Imperial Swordsman, Oath of Death, Long Chase, Pursuit, A Taste of Cold Steel, Ambush, Village of Tigers, King Eagle, Wandering Swordsman and other movies like The Casino, Deadly Knives, Sacred Knives Vengeance, Thunderbolt Fist, Master of Kung Fu.

And finally, a Chor Yuen one: Convict Killer, Clans of Intrigue, Legend of Bat, Magic Blade, Pursuit Vengeance, Jade Tiger, Swordsman and Enchantress, Clans of Amazons, Duel of the Century, Sentimental Swordsman, etc.
The first Shaw Brothers Classics set was very female centered, IMO, though mostly featuring Cheng Pei-Pei. I would love blus of any of the female-focused films you mentioned, of course (including the non-female-focused ones - lots of good suggestions there!).

Arrow said that in one of their future Shaw collections Chor Yuen will be will be well represented.

To be fair this does seem like an incredibly low effort release from Shout. We don't need another spin-off line. Just put these titles in Shaw Bros Classics vol 4 or 5 and spend some more time on the artwork. They're making this a site exclusive because they need to rely on FOMO. These are good films and deserve the respect that labels like Arrow and 88 Films are showing them with their releases.

It's definitely low effort but I'm happy these are not with 88 tbh. Like SF, 88 just recycles the old Celestial transfers but the SF releases work out to be cheaper and aren't delayed for months on end like 88.

Happy that all the AAA titles seem to be with Arrow who actually put in the effort with (some) new restorations. Hoping The New One-Armed Swordsman, my favorite film with Ti Lung and David Chiang, is with Arrow. I was actually glad it wasn't on this set even though I pre-ordered. Hoping that one is on Shawscope 3 with a brand new restoration (along with The Avenging Eagle I hope).

Nearly 250 sets sold so far in the last 24 hours. That's actually pretty impressive given the high price. Unlike the regular Shaw Classic sets that have the same MSRP, but are discounted to $140, this is the full $170 price. I'm sure some of that is FOMO, but it also just shows how strong the demand is for these SB movies. I'm a little surprised they didn't decide to break this set down into two ~$85 6-film sets spread out over a couple months. I think that would have made sales even stronger than they currently are.

Yeah, price is a bit high, but for me these are some of the biggest Shaw films that I've wanted so I had to jump on it.

I'm still in shock as to how many Shaw films we have gotten in the past 12 months. I think there are more Blu-rays now than there were DVD in the US.

I assume the number in stock currently displayed on the website is for the 600 copies with the poster?

I'm with you. Having FOMO, but still not wanting to pay Shout $30 for a poster. I'll wait to buy one of the very last sets, unless it happens to drops below $140 first. I'll be keeping a close eye on the inventory #s. Very interested in knowing just how large the current U.S. market is for these films.

I've been wanting to begin a Shaw Brothers collection for many years. The international and used market on older Shaw releases has been very off-putting. I've been satisfying that itch by grabbing old Dragon Dynasty discs when I've found them cheap.

Unfortunately, all Shaw Brothers films are totally blind buys for me. There always seems to be plenty of hype and fans to entice me to want to engage. I simply don't know enough about the films to know where to spend my money. So I'll just buy them all. lol

So far have most of the singles, plus
Got Shawscope V1 late last year
V2 came in this week
Planning to wait for the next Target B2G1 sale for the 3 major Shout sets
