Oooh, love that this is getting a 4K release in a set! I shall definitely be picking this up.

The first one is a straight classic IMO, at least as good as the original Japanese film. Part 2 gets a lot of crap, but I still find it enjoyable as its own thing. Rings, however... is not good. At. All. Oh, well -- 2 out of 3 ain't bad. Definitely picking this up.

Yeah, US remake, which I personally like quite a bit. It follows along some of the same path as 1998 JP film initially, but diverges more as it progresses. Has a nice visual style and grading too. Some fans of the JP films don't care for it at all, but I appreciate what they did with it.. The sequel Ring Two, which was directed by Hideo Nakata (director of the Japanese films). Only seen it once, and didn't feel it was as anywhere as good as the first, but I need to watch it again. And then the remake/reboot Rings, which I can't remember a single thing about.

After reading your post, I realized I’ve also not seen these films in quite some time, and have decided to kick off my October Horrorfest by revisiting the Ring trilogy tonight. It’s overdue on my part. And I’ll likely follow these up later in the week with the US remakes of the Grudge films too. Why not, after all. What else are Octobers for?

The artwork is pretty badass IMO, but like others, I’ll probably hold off until a standalone release gets announced.

Holy crap! This just made my day! This was my most anticipated 4k (not necessarily the mediocre sequels but whatever). Hopefully it has Dolby Atmos!

Yep, only really saw the first one but I thought it was terrible and one of the worst remakes I've seen honestly.

Mindless changes, dull one-to-one recreations of scenes from the original, and an eye-rolling new "Bahd Seed" origin for Sada-I mean "Samara" that just completely missed the point of the story.

Anyone saying it's better than the original either has nostalgia goggles or a phobia of subtitles. Or both.

Nice. I may do the same. I usually read the original Ring books (Ring, Spiral, Loop, and maybe Birthday) almost every year, but I may just start with Spiral this time, and then watch the corresponding Japanese film Rasen, which I've actually never seen, and have heard mostly bad things about lol..

I'm a good way through the franchise now. Only have Sadako dx and the second series rasen to go. (Won't be able to find the Chinese films with subs so those are out)

I didn't expect it but after reading the first book I've really warmed up to most of these adaptations.

Will definitely get this box set.

Oh and I love spiral\rasen. More than ring(u) 2 for sure.

The Ring is one of the first horror movies I ever saw. I was barely 9 years old when my mom let me watch it while we were on vacation, since it was PG-13. I’ll never forget how terrified I was. I’ll definitely pick this up since it should make a nice companion to the Japanese set from Arrow (I still need to watch those films), and while I haven’t seen the sequels, I’ve heard nothing but bad things about them, and it wouldn’t surprise me if Paramount releases a standalone UHD steelbook of the first like with Halloween H20. No doubt Paramount required these films released in a set like with their three Halloween films.

I've only seen the original more than once but if memory serves me well this set includes:

- One of the super rare remakes that surpasses the original

- "I'm not your fking mommy."

- The first movie again but with zero style or talent in a desperate yet flaccid attempt at modernizing the lore in a post-VHS world resulting in a spiritual kindred to the Sadako 3D/Sadako 3D 2 films except this one's not even cringe-y, just boring

But I'm happy that I have to spend $90 to get one movie that I love and have been waiting for since I got a 4k player.

This is good...

It's what I wanted.

Man do I wish they were releasing the first film on its own, but now that we know The Ring is coming from Shout in 4K I wonder what the mystery title is in that upcoming Paramount 4K horror set? Many people, including myself, assumed it'd be The Ring so I wonder what it'll be now.

Sweeney Todd seems like a safe bet.

Great announcement. Wonder whether Rings (2005) will also be part of the set (maybe even also in 4K?).

I love the first film and remember liking the second well enough for Naomi Watts. I have never seen the third one. The best thing about these Shout/Scream sets is each film gets its own case so you can toss the turds in a closet or drawer and forget about them.

This set contains The Ring (2002), The Ring Two, and Rings, on 4K UHD and Blu-ray.
