Would like to see Jordan come back and get the killer behind Jigsaw for his impersonation and self interest.

Can’t say I’m surprised, never seemed like a realistic time span.

Kevin Greutert was also forced to direct Saw 7. He directed Saw 6 and was going to move on and direct Paranormal Activity 2. But Twisted Pictures (the producers of Saw) exercised a sequel clause in his contract to bring him onto Saw 3D after they already hired another director, David Hackl (director of Saw 5).

It was done during pre-production of Paranormal Activity 2 specifically because Twisted wanted to hurt that movie. Paranormal Activity crushed Saw 6 at the box office the year before and PA2 and Saw 3D were going to go head to head again that year.

I remember the rivalry between the two franchises at the time. Costas Mandylor (Hoffman's actor) posted a video after Saw 6 saying the next one will be the last movie because they've been beaten by Paranormal Activity, or something along those lines.

I dunno, they used to turn these around yearly two decades ago, they seemed to bash out shooting in a month and never had that much post-production work. Kinda have a feeling they’re struggling to get a story together which isn’t too surprising if they trying to squeeze Tobin Bell in continuity wise again. That said, if it results in a better film I’m all for it, Saw X was the strongest one since the first two.

I suppose, although it’s obviously disappointing.

As for Saw X, I have to disagree. I thought it was a strong entry, but I preferred Saw 3 and Saw 6 to be honest.

Nah.

Shawneee Smith going full loco with her inescapable traps, and the dynamics of the three leads= 3rd favourite. Heck, it might even be my 2nd favourite, depending on my mood

One of the more reliable Twitter scoopers posted this:

This is a bummer but I've heard from multiple sources that - unless there's a big change - SAW XI probably isn't coming in 2025 either

There are two rumors floating around as to why this hasn't gone into production yet. First one is that Tobin Bell is in poor health and "no longer up to the physical demands of carrying a Saw picture", and the second and more believable one is that there's a feud of creative differences between producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules. Burg wants a complete reboot while Koules is trying to push forward with the sequel (deleted reddit thread).

It’s usually about egos to be fair. They have undone a lot of good will from Saw X

Definitely something screwy going on at Lionsgate. They filmed three Strangers movies two years ago & still haven't even dated a release for the second, despite dropping a kick ass trailer for it back in October.

They are breaking away from Starz and will probably be for sale.

Hadn't heard anything about Tobin being in poor health, but the whole Burg v Koules thing certainly has at least some truth to it - not only have a few different sources reported on this, but I believe there's actually a Twisted Pictures release scheduled for quite soon which just has Koules' name on it, I think? Pretty sure this is the first time only one and not the other has been a producer on a Twisted venture, so it definitely seems like there's trouble in paradise.

Former has been disproven already and the latter is incorrect on some level as well, Burg and Koules are having arguments but it's not about the creative decisions for the next film. It's mainly that neither of them want to work with each other at all anymore, but neither want to leave Saw either.

Lionsgate only distributes the Saw films, the production/franchise rights are with Twisted Pictures who mainly makes them.

Yeah, was just thinking about that. All the fuss over three films in one year and then this.

Sucks to hear that this film is in limbo.

I really wish they'd work on a story to fill up holes that they created. I didn't mind Jigsaw. I'd like to know more about Logan.

Hoffman was a beast. I would really like to know his fate after the final chapter.

Saw X was all right. Going back between the events of Saw 1 and 2 didn't go over that well with me. I want more of a sequel and answers. Not fitting more stories in the middle of the timeline.

This 100. When that post credit scene on Saw X came up, out theater lost it. He is one of my top characters in the franchise.
