Whoa is this actually happening. I had lumped this in with Kung Pow 2 as something that would never actually come out.

Romero may have altered certain elements of the zombie mythos, however he never changed the basic definition of the term zombie. Zombies (whether inspired by Romero or the magical, mythical pre-"Night of the Living dead" incarnation), are both literally defined as reanimated corpses... The definition has never changed.

Well one could hope cause then maybe Sony can re-release 28 Days Later on blu/4k with a good transfer.
Not canon? Is this true? I really like both films, so I'm not sure why they wouldn't count part 2 if true. A very intense horror film, like the first.

While these Ragers may be included by most in the generalized "zombie" genre, you are technically correct: These Ragers are living human beings infected with the Rage virus. Otherwise, those infected Chimps at the beginning of 28 Days Later would be zombies and they resemble nothing remotely close to zombies. They sprint and bite and tear the victim apart but don't eat the victim. Not being dead corpses back to life and not eating meat definitely prove these are not technically zombies.

Zombie: Dead corpse, returns to life by a virus or plague cause or supernatural cause. Diminished thinking ability. Some can talk. With rotting muscles with dried blood, movement should be minimal and limited, but movies like Nightmare City and Dawn of the Dead 2004 made them run, increasing the intensity. I do prefer them stumbling/walking of Romero's Night, Dawn of the Dead, Land, Survival, Diary, and Day of the Dead. They are cold and dead, but still moving corpses often in hordes, that feast on the living.

I did read that Romero wanted to make a new feature zombie film, but most producers wanted him to recreate the drama of The Walking Dead, while Romero wanted to make his films more about a symbolic theme about society. Romero dying at 77 linked to his smoking habit.

World War Z had swirling hordes of zombie runners.
I Am Legend, those were technically vampires, but treated more like high temperature living rage mutants with clever minds, but in the "Zombie" genre again.

Rager: Living infected human, the Rage virus turns their eyes/ iris' red, and makes their blood almost boil, increasing their temperature. They wait dormant until they hear a person, and then rage after them at top speed, going berzerk. Once they catch the victim, they bite and scratch and it takes 30 seconds to turn. They rest in large groups.

You consider the difference as to whether the characters afflicted by Rage within this film series are either 'living, breathing and virus infected' or 'reanimated corpses' to be a matter of "splitting such tiny hairs"? That's either absurdly ridiculous or obviously and extremely disingenuous on your part. Most likely it's both...

I'd rather have Kung Pow 2 honestly (not that I won't go see 28YL)

Sarah Polley in 2004's Dawn of the Dead, written by James Gunn and directed by Zach Snyder, also helped spur the running zombies trend for a long while there. Like the Rage virus of this series, those bit would turn quickly within seconds, as she found out as she had to break through the bathroom tub window to escape with her life. Intense beginning.
World War Z was a fast transformation too. They were like hordes of Army Ants, swarming up the safe zone walls, leaping to their doom to get inside to feast.

In Dead Alive/Braindead, directed by Peter Jackson, a comedy horror, a baby gets infected with the zombie virus, and causes havoc in the outdoor park.

Quote:
Murphy also noted that at the time, it wasn’t a popular film trope. “Before ’28 Days Later,’ there weren’t that many zombie movies — it was kind of a dead genre,” he said, causing the audience to laugh over the unintentional pun. “So Danny and Alex rebooted it.”
Thanks. That's funny that Cillian called the Zombie Genre a 'Dead' genre. He's right, zombies are dead corpses reanimated.

It actually has the exact opposite of the intended effect with me. I don't even bother reading posts that look like that.

Boyle & Garland are like an All-Star team to me. I’ll watch anything they’re collaborating on.

The second movie is also set in London. Although the last scene shows Paris, France.

Thanks. It's been awhile since I saw it, remembering seeing the Eiffel Tower at the end up the stairway as their destination. I think that was the first film I saw Jeremy Renner starring in, before seeing him in The Hurt Locker as a defuser in the war, which was kind of his breakout role to becoming a lead hero actor.
The older sister girl, she was also in Need for Speed, with that Aaron Paul guy.
The father, I saw him in one other movie but forget which one.
