but you 're right great book, good adaptation but how can you stand that thing for 2 hours. I had the same problem with the other movie he did this way, waking life...
That is a classic story. I love it!

I wish they'd given the right to make it to a director that wasn't so full of it.

Scanner Darkly. Robert Downey's performance alone is reason enough to pick this up.

Corpse Bride was just Burton trying to recreate what he had with Nightmare Before Christmas and failing miserably.

Scanner Darkly for me, love the story and the look of it. I'll have to import the BD sooner or later from US

I own and enjoy both movies. Corpse Bride is a beautiful looking and entertaining movie, but I think A Scanner Darkly is the better movie. Having said that, Corpse Bride gets far more repeat viewings in my house because it's kid friendly.

I for one actually thought the technique used in A Scanner Darkly effectively allowed a sober viewer to get the required altered state experience. It is an artistic choice which to me has merit. If you do end up with A Scanner Darkly, do yourself as favour and finish it. The movie raises a number of philosophical, spiritual, political and psychological questions; drug use is simply the device used to get us there, and not the theme of the movie. Many of the questions raised have no right answer; some will find that unsettling, others find it is a springboard for further thought.

Yeah,... But it's great actors and a fantastic plot.

Nightmare Before Christmas instead of either.

Corpse is basically a distillation of Nightmare.

I found the visual effect used on Scanner Darkly to be kind of annoying.

Nightmare Before Christmas > Corpse Bride > Scanner Darkly.

Now that Tim Burton's Frankenweenie 3D will be out soon and his The Nightmare Before Christmas had also been release in 3D. Any chance that Corpse Bride will get the 3D treatment too?

That would be good.

I still don't see any connection between scanner darkly and corpse bride.

Buy Corpse Bride and get Philip K. Dick's A Scanner Darkly in paperback. Your mind will be blown.
