Didn't know this movie was in theaters this week but I'll admit I haven't been keeping track until checking each week's show times.

Black Bag looks interesting for the trailer (not an action film, but a spy thriller) and mostly positive reviews help show it's not a big risk to check out in theaters for fear of being a clunker.

All these movies opening the same days. I want to see this one too.

The Day the Earth Blew Up with Daffy Duck Porky Pig
Black Bag
Novocaine
Mickey 17

Not sure how long these films will last in theaters to check them all out one per weekend.
Last week saw Rule of Jenny Pen which was a good horror movie.

Really good spy thriller/drama but very, VERY low key. I think audiences should know that going in because I'm seeing a lot of negative comments this morning like "Zzzzz" and "I fell asleep within the first thirty minutes....". This is NOT a blow 'em up, 007 style action flick at all. In fact, it made me think this is the kind of espionage take Soderbergh circa 1989 would have made if he had the budget and freedom to do so back then. I'm going 4 out of 5.

That’s true, it’s definitely an old-fashioned spy thriller, not some 007 pastiche or anything like that.

And it is excellent at doing what it’s doing.

Best, most enjoyable picture of 2025 so far. That Steven Soderbergh guy is just really freaking good at this.

I really enjoyed the dynamic between Fassbender and Blanchett. Hopefully the film does well and we can get another story with these two. At 93 minutes the movie is done before you know it.

Saw it this morning. Great fun all around. Dolby Cinema presentation was quite nice.

Planning to rewatch it to catch more. Very slickly directed with great cinematography. The acting is excellent across the board with Blanchett and Fassbender anchoring it to great effect. It’s a fun, tense, entertaining and terrific espionage thriller/drama. Highly recommended.

I watched it twice already, the misdirects are very cleverly planted. You really need to watch it more than once to see how clever the script is.

Yes, this movie was GOOD.
However, the cinematography is just weird. Lots of brightly lit scenes in which the faces of the characters are in total darkness (like the dinner scene). It really bothered me.

Very good film. My favorite part might be how chic the sets, vehicles and clothes might be. Fassbender's old Land Rover! Those candle holders at the dinner party! Their kitchen! Wow!

And um yeah it's a great spy thriller too.

Really enjoyed this soderberg effort short and sweet with a lovely little part for Mr brosnan who stole the picture in my humble opinion he has matured like a fine wine into a very decent character actor.

Absolutely terrific! I haven't seen much of Soderbergh's filmography to be honest but this is the first film of his I've seen that I can full tilt say I loved. But who am I kidding? I'm a sucker for a good spy flick.

Different tastes i suppose . I thought it looked very filmic and cinematic, and it enhanced the tone and atmosphere. But of course YMMV.
