No reason to be concerned. The episodes were SO GOOD they were like "could we maybe ..." I've met Dave and he is super wonderful. This is going to be legit. Trust.

People were also skeptical about Elemental, but it turned out to be a surprise hit.

They're one of the biggest corporations on the planet. You don't have to constantly defend them.

If the same Moana actress returns, that's a big plus right there.

Someone needs to do Blubonnet's job while they're banned again.

Technically it still underperformed despite the impressive legs it had. Had it released big out the gate, then it woulda certainly been a success.

Production was done in Canada to avoid the strikes. Then they cut up the series to sell in theaters.

As someone who was affected by the strikes...that pisses me off.

What strikes? The animation guild was not on strike and the actors couldn't and wouldn't have done it even if it was made in Canada.

Non union facility in Vancouver. Had holes in the schedule due to SAG and WGA strikes. Instead of going back to work chose to cut into a movie. Voice over work I'm sure recorded before the strikes.

Anything else?

Just let Pua go on the adventure this time. My son loves pigs and I remember him being really disappointed when he was left behind in favor of Hei Hei(especially with him shown on the damn raft in the poster).
I too was massively disappointed that Pua did not go on the adventure in the first film. He’s one of the cutest animal sidekicks in Disney animated film history.

I still don't get it. It's animation. With the exception of voice acting, animated productions went on as usual in the US as well. They also started working on it since 2020 or 2021 I believe.

DUDE. I work in animation. It's bone dry as the studios severely contracted animation since the end of 2022. The only shows/movies that were worked on was stuff they were still under contract for. Disney, Warner, everyone was under a hiring freeze or laying people off. This found a loophole in cutting what they had into a movie instead of keeping those employees for a series.

Reality also severely hampered by the strikes and those are about as under the table as you can get.

And it's obviously not what happened. They had an original movie planned for 2024 directed by Suzi Yoonessi. Strange World and Wish flopping obviously freaked them out so Iger most likely demanded to turn the Moana series into a movie asap.

So the only project the songwriters worked on was a fake Bridgerton Musical for TikTok ?!? That doesn't sound inspiring, and here I thought you can't get any lower than getting a pop music songwriter.

In Moana 1, that was interesting how the land was being corrupted by the toxic plague, wiping out the plant life as it went. Moana had to go and figure out why it was happening and stop it against her father's wishes.
Good ocean quest story IMO and well-presented, and something I haven't seen quite like it from Disney before, despite some formulas being used like side kick characters. The main theme song was really well-sung with good lyrics too.
