I think Williams knows how much new music to put in there to make sure it qualifies. The rules change from time to time, but I recall back with the Lord of the Rings it was 70% new music requirement, and they made sure to put in over 70% with Return of the King after The Two Tower didn’t qualify with about 2/3 new music.

I recently say Emilia Perez and Anora and I was disappointed by both of them. They're supposed to be frontrunners in the race to the Oscars, but in my opinion Dune 2 is miles and miles better in about all categories, although it'll probably get snubbed.

Conan O’Brien to Host 2025 Oscars Ceremony

Emmy-winning comedian, writer, producer and former late-night host Conan O’Brien has been tapped to host the 97th Oscars, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Tuesday.

This marks O’Brien’s first stint as as host, coming after two consecutive years with Jimmy Kimmel as emcee. The ceremony is also coming off winning an Emmy for outstanding variety special (live), from a ceremony that yielded over 20 million viewers.

True to form, O’Brien responded with humor to the announcement. “America demanded it and now it’s happening: Taco Bell’s new Cheesy Chalupa Supreme. In other news, I’m hosting the Oscars,” he said.

That is a genuinely great choice to host. His humor is a perfect blend of slightly ass-hole mixed with great self deprication.

His podcast is one of the funniest things out there and his travel shows are truly hilarious

Long overdue. Conan hosting, as well as Martin Short and Steve Martin co-hosting, are two no-brainer choices that should’ve happened already. They could even throw in Selena Gomez with the latter to appeal to the younger demo.

The Academy’s Visual Effects Branch notified the artisans of the 20 films advancing to the next round just before the Thanksgiving holiday. Through multiple sources, Variety has confirmed 18 of the finalists that are still in the running.
