Totem Speakers....Andybody know of these?
Hand Crafted in Montreal, made of Real Wood, and Premium Components I have never Heard a movie sound better than when it's played on a Set of Totem Tribes...Unless it's Being Played off of a Totem Sttaf System. Holy Shit, it's the Best sound system we carry, and we only carry Great stuff. The Reason I mentioned these is Because we Carried Bose and Totem Right Next to Each other, Same Price, and Totems Kicked their ass up and down the block. Even the Kef we Carried beat their Ass, and Were Cheaper. So we stopped carrying Bose, they Got pissy because we didn't sell as Many, everytime somebody came in for a bose system, they heard the Totems, and Took them Instead. Even the Totem Thunder Subwoofer is better than anything I've ever heard, a small little guy with 3 Great Drivers. Size Doesn't Matter in Subs really, I'm Pretty Sure Velodyne Proved that with their Microvee |

I hate how a lot of the options on cars are now being bundled with the craptastic Bose systems. For what you're paying for it you can get a much more feature-packed head unit with some great quality components and blow any Bose system away. Then, if you buy a car with a Bose system, in a lot of cases it's a total PITA to rip it out and replace everything without totally rewiring the car.

Hate is a very strong word. I think it must work out a lot. Or at least do some hard labor like bailing hay or somethin' like that.

If I had my way this would be a must.
But when I'm doing it myself, I'm really not into all that hassle. I hate running speaker wire into doors. Everything else I don't mind. I've found you can get away with quite a bit on the stock speaker wire. |

You didn't mention what kind of BOSE products you want feedback on.
My BOSE 301 and 901's audio speakers have for many years provided outstanding sound for my household needs. How old are they? Well, 21 years old now and still sound as good as any other friends or family that I have had the chance to experience. The speakers have stayed through 4 expensive receiver change outs. Its all about what drives them and how you hear your music. Have you ever heard Bose 901 speakers doing their thing with over 100+w coursing through them? Its not bad, thats for sure. They are good enough no matter how much the young public thinks knocking corporate companies is cool in this day and age. And yes, I've visited many audio stores over all the bygone years listening for a chance to upgrade and for me, its still just not necessary. Today, I wouldn't buy any of their HTIB items (nor over the past 10-15 years) but their noise cancelling head phones get rave reviews from business associates of mine as well as a BIL who does well for himself. Put it this way, since Bose is still in business (and doing well apparently), someones buying their goods and spreading the word to boot. Last edited by mgonzo2u; 02-17-2008 at 09:33 PM. |

I've got Bose and they're adequate. I've had my Acoustimass 10 Series II speakers for over 8 years now and they sound fine. Back then I wasn't too internet research savvy and would've probably stayed away from them had I read all the negative comments about them first. I never felt the need to get rid of them and plan to keep them as long as they'll produce adequate sound. I've added an Infinity sub to give it more kick in the low end since the low frequency module that comes with the cubes are not enough for my taste. For 7.1 rear surrounds I've added a pair of Bose 161s, which I got in order to be better sound matched with my Acoustimass 10s. Yes, you can get better for cheaper, and knowing what I know now I'd more than likely explore that route before investing in Bose. Do what your heart tells you.

Advertising campaigns don't keep companies like BOSE in business for over 40 years. Over that amount of time, the actual product has to be worthy or it fades away.

I will spare you my comments on the 301. I have measured both of these speakers, and to say they underperform when compared to other speakers in their price range is an understatement. I step off my soapbox now. Last edited by Sir Terrence; 02-18-2008 at 02:07 AM. |

They make the best iPod speaker system (SoundDock).
Everything else of theirs is overpriced crap though. |

I did a final year project on loudspeakers at university, and afterwards sold them in a high-end hifi shop.

I have the SoundDock because it sounds OK and it has a rechargeable battery (very convenient). Even though I get a lot of usage out of my SoundDock, I still feel that I paid too much for it to give it a thumbs up recommendation. |

My $800 AM16's I dont believe are overpriced.. as far as crap they have lasted me nearly 5 years with no issues. Again someone find me something that's at least 6.1 for $800 that sound better (seperated or packaged). Totems are too much.
