Would personally wait until release date and then becomes available to buy on Amazon DE. They sort out all the tax for you in the price you pay.

Also means you know if the release is actually English friendly as someone will almost certainly have the title by then, so know if safe to buy.

It's not like this is a limited edition so you risk missing out by not pre-ordering somewhere.

I'm not ordering anymore Plaion discs sight unseen, after how their new Hard Target disc has the swapped back channels.

That was not Plaions fault, but they were delivered the elements this way by Universal 11 years ago. And since nobody ever noticed and made them aware of it they just re-used the track from their 2013 Blu-ray. Also the channels are not completely swapped but only in some scenes. So the problem was not that obvious.

Nevertheless this is a bummer and I strongnx hope they will do a replacement program. They are into the matter at the moment.

Ah that’s because you didn’t know about the golden unwritten rule of Jackie Chan buying - if the film was made in America don’t buy it

Caveat - bar Rumble In The Bronx of course, but that was a HK funded film still!

But that does not apply to all of his US films. I really like the RUSH-HOUR movies and SHANGHAI NOON/KNIGHTS.

And hit me but I am also a fan of AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS.

Shanghai Noon was good when I saw it 20+ years ago, same as the Rush Hour films. I tried to rewatch the Rush Hour films recently because I got the trilogy cheap, and the first was decent, the second was a bit of a slog but was funnier, I didn't bother with the 3rd I never liked that one. Seeing as I have also been watching a lot of other Jackie films recently like Mr. Nice Guy, Gorgeous, I still don't really like the US films it just feels like selling out. Like I did see some of the dumb US movies he did where they paired him with a random actress, can't remember what happened in any of them. I have not seen a single Jackie film past Rob'B'Hood which I liked, but that was a proper HK production by the look of it. Last time I saw a movie case with him it was some Johnny Knoxville film and I was like oh god why no.

The last good movie Jackie made was LITTLE BIG SOLDIER. Almost everything else after that: Either pro-communist propaganda or ridiculous sci-fi/fantasy crap.
The only exception: THE FOREIGNER.

I think I will wait to see if Warner Archive put this out it will be much cheaper than a Plaion import, my days of buying $40-$50 imports and flipping them when a US set comes out are winding down, it's tiresome. If 88 or Eureka did this next it would also be an auto-buy from me.

Shame this won't include the extended english-dubbed TV cut of the film, but that was probably an obscure thing to include anyways lol. Hoping the uncut version looks good here, some of the streaming versions looked alright and others looked even worse than Drunken Master II's blu-ray.

Rumble doesn't count either, to be honest - very famously, it was filmed in Vancouver with no attempts made to hide it. Lots of visible mountains and Canada Post mailboxes

I'm partial to the Shanghai movies though myself, and 80 Days is at least an interesting oddity. (At the time I believe it was one of, if not the most expensive hollywood films to enter production and be completed without any domestic distributor attached!)

So, the HK cut is from "an existing scan"... any idea of which one it could be?

Also, let's hope both cuts have English subs.
