Hope the other Cornetto movies get matching EC Comics steels, especially as The World's End never got a "Reel Heroes" Blu steel to match the ones for Shaun and Hot Fuzz.

It seems this new disc will be a BD-100, as opposed to the previous release’s BD-66, if the art pictured on Amazon is accurate.

New presentation doesn't tell us if it is an upscale or a rescan. It could mean anything. I hope it is a rescan, it would be a shame if not but if it looks good regardless then that is what matters. I'll find out within the week for myself at the local cinema and base my preorder on that.

I watched the 4k earlier this year and saw it in theaters a couple of weeks ago and it definitely looks like a new scan.

Haven't they changed small parts of it like putting blood on the floor in the shop? surely this must be a new scan

the steelbook is out of stock at Amazon already (prob temporarily), but walmart has it and they have low price guarantee like amazon -- the walmart price is currently about $5 higher than the eventual release price.

So that's gonna be the same disc in the US and Europe, probably Italian and German releases coming too, then.

"Remastered to include Dolby Vision & Dolby Atmos", hmmmmm. Be nice if a new scan was mentioned, but Universal don't often make such qualifiers.

One glimmer of hope is that a negative cutter is listed in the movie's credits, if this got a conformed neg cut then Universal may well have redone it in 4K a la Snyder's Dawn of the Dead, Land of the Dead, 8 Mile, Chronicles of Riddick and Doom. (Hot Funk also has a neg cutter credited.)

And it still boggles my fookin mind that Universal bypassed a perfickly good cut negative for Bourne Identity's 20th but they'll rebuild shite like Doom - and I like Doom, before people start bleating, but fookin hell Universal's priorities are all over the place. Maybe for Bourne's 25th? See y'all in three years!

The French release will be the same as everywhere else. Plus there's a fnac exclusive with the steelbook and a few goodies. I went with that one.

Yeah, seems intentionally vague. One hopes it's not just an HDR-to-DV conversion and a better upscaling system has been used. If they did an entirely new scan - or even went back to the digital workfiles - they would have said so.

I've so far preordered four versions, including that one...

I think Bourne has to pay Universal HQ a visit personally before something happens.

The French included on Universal's disc is Canadian only, mentioned in the press release posted a page back, so the StudioCanal disc you guys are getting will have its own encode, audio and likely extras as well.

Quite honestly I trust Universal a lot more than I trust SC, even if they had their own crap encodes.

Hmm good call. I did pre-order le french yesterday with the 10€ off but now I'm a bit skeptical if that's still a good idea. Let's see..

I'm not sure if it will be different because we have the exact same steelbook as the US and UK. Anyway the movie was made by studiocanal so they probably have an agreement with universal for the 4K release.

The rear lists the ratio as 2.39:1 for the new release, the old release states its 2.35:1

Does that hold any meaning?

Hopefully, this new transfer and encode are excellent.

Looking forward to revisiting this classic.

The steelbook artwork does not appeal to me, so the standard version will be sufficient.

Universal is re-releasing a movie with Dolby Vision?? NOW?! Does this mean that they will update all the movies they released with only HDR to a version with Dolby Vision in the future, like Sony has been doing lately? I would kill for the Dfreamworks movies that were denied that treatment. Not even Shrek got it.
Hopefully they do this for the whole Cornetto Trilogy because now I'm experiencing my first buyers remorse.

Strange this is being remastered even though it's not made by Sony.
