So it has none of the bonus features from the DreamWorks Blu-Ray of "Were-Rabbit."

Unfortunately. But look at it this way, if this set has the UK audio for the film, it'll still be worth keeping Universal's release for the US audio.

For those wondering, they changed "marrow" to "melon" for the US release(s).

God no… just… god no… I managed to scrounge up the 1999 dvd for the original audio, I’m sure others can to at a fraction of the cost.

Question.... does this release happen to have the original audio or no?

I had the VHS edition of that release as a child, and the birthday card definitely had "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" (and I wasn't even aware that that was a change until well over a decade later).

I had the CBS Fox three-VHS set as a kid, and that had "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow."

Kind of annoying to release this so soon after their previous Wallace & Gromit set… had I known this was coming I definitely wouldn’t have grabbed that.

Also I would reeeeally love to finally get an Aardman Animation set that includes non-W&G shorts like “Not Without My Handbag” and “Creature Comforts,” etc.

Someone in the UK please do this and chuck in Curse of the Were-Rabbit in 4K as well. If someone gives me COTWR in 4K that will be a very good day. Sits in my "most wanted but least likely" wishlist.

I emailed Shout Factory asking about the audio pitch problem, and they responded with this:

Quote:
Here's what Aardman let us know:

The audio tracks, including music and dialogue, have been converted to their original pitch using modern pitch-shifting algorithms. In previous releases when the films were converted from differing frame rates, they played at slightly different pitches and resulted in the music not playing in its original key of F major, noticeable to our keen-eared fans! In this release, the films play at the pitch they were originally produced at and as were originally intended.

So, if anything goes wrong with the audio, we can only blame Aardman. That said, I believe things won't go wrong, and I'm thankful for these great news!

Great news but it's still converted from the original 25fps to 23.976/24.000. Ideally a UK release would present it in the original 25/50 framerate like the Australian blu-ray set did, and like their classic Doctor Who sets.

At least the pitch is fixed. But is the full original audio restored with all the original music?

Also, still no confirmation on how the discs are stored. Hubs or sleeves?

The last release did make an attempt to correct the pitch for The Wrong Trousers, but I noticed that the sound effects are louder than they should be, and Wallace’s voice is quieter than it should be.

To be fair, I don't think I would ever be able to tell the difference between 25 and 24FPS if the pitch is fixed.

The shorts were shot on film. Most likely 24fps like every other film because of that. And because you shoot stop motion 24frames per second. It'd have been 25FPS if it had been shot on video. Where is that coming from? Is it because they were aired on BBC back then?

It was possibly transferred from film to video for broadcast specifically and it did originally air at 25fps but wasn't shot that way

In Inside the Wrong Trousers, there's an on-set interview with Nick Park where, on the subject of syncing the animation to the recorded dialogue, he specifically says that 'films' run at 25fps.
[Show spoiler]

Also, on the PAL DVDs Wallace sounds noticeably higher pitched in Were-rabbit compared to the shorts, which shouldn't be the case if they all had PAL speedup.

Because Were-Rabbit was a theatrical film and most of those are automatically shot at 24fps.
