The theatrical cut of this is pretty much worthless since this entry has the best kill in the franchise and is censored in the R rated version.

I like it but I don't love it, the soundmix on the film is also infuriating I wonder if Arrow can fix it with a remix, just sticking with the Shout Unrated disc, but Jason X on the other hand...

I haven't seen this movie since I owned the DVD, Never bought the Shout set as it was released years after 4K had been introduced and I figured that eventually, they would be released on that format. I was not the biggest fan of this movie, but I'll pick up the Arrow 4K, especially if it has the uncut version.

In celebration of this development, I think a rewatch this weekend is in order.

Arrow did the unpossible and presented both the US (Taco Bell) and International versions (Pizza Hut) of Demolition Man on one 4K disc. I’m sure with Adam Marcus working on this, we’ll get both theatrical and unrated. Plus this time they may not have to recall and redo it because of editing errors.

This is definitely a film that we needed in ultra high definition.

the full 2K scan was only for the theatrical cut, the unrated cut used both the 2K scan and inserts (likely from the DVD master) for the unrated cut

not doubting elements exist of the unrated cut, I just thought I'd correct your assumption on that of the unrated cut being from a fresh scan

honestly what bothers me more is it's so poorly cut that there are super obvious music jumps and editing errors in the theatrical cut that are all corrected in the unrated cut, it's lucky New Line saved all of the elements for it

IIRC the theatrical cut was confirmed to the OCN while the uncut element survives on a IP. Shouts unrated master used inserts from an old HD master. Its unknown of this film element actually still exsists or if it were SF just using what they had to get that set out the door.

Just do what I'm doing. Switch out the cases and put the discs from this in the Shout set. I already did it with the remake, and the first two movies (even though the first movie's UHD isn't the best by any stretch).

Might only be on Blu-ray though, in a very Shout fashion.
If we're using the remake as the benchmark for comparison, I don't think there will be a Blu-Ray of Arrow's version. Just the UHD.

It's a rights issue, I guess? The 2009 flick would have looked great on HMV and Fopp shelves here in England.
Arrow's deal with Warner is US only, yes. But the UHDs are region free so it shouldn't be an issue to import.

The Last Starfighter's UK 4K disc is licensed from Warner (they licensed it from Universal domestically) and their release of Exorcist II is also a UK exclusive since Shout still has the US license

The 4K masters of the first four Paramount films (and subsequent 2K masters of the back four Paramount films) had existed long before Shout's set.
Weren't the 4K scans for the first four done in 2020 for the SF boxset? That was my understanding. They were done for the 40th anniversary of the franchise's launch, and were new to that set.

I prefer the theatrical cut because sex and violence in film is wrong.

Yup. Demolition Man was also a dual-territory WB title.
