So as far as the lovely German Steelbook is concerned:

JPC won’t send R-rated films to the U.S.

Amazon inexplicably won’t dispatch it to my address (which I don’t recall ever being an issue with any other movie I’ve ordered from them).

D&T Mailorder doesn’t even have a listing for it.

Why is this my life?

That’s cool. Ordering Steelbooks from Amazon.it for importing to the U.S. is a losing gamble (90% chance it’d arrive bent and busted), but this gives me hope that the UK and/or France will get it and that’s a safer shipping bet.

It sucks that something like Kaliedescape is the ONLY other option for LOSSLESS ATMOS audio besides waiting for (hopefully) a physical UHD...

I invested in a nice 7.1.4 ATMOS setup, installed speakers in my ceiling, but unless a movie gets a UHD BluRay release, then I'm stuck wasting my system on a COMPRESSED Dolby Digital 'Plus' version of atmos...

If/When movie go exclusively streaming, I REALLY hope some service will at least offer a LOSSLESS AUDIO subscription 'tier'! I've reconciled with the fact that we'll only ever get low bitrate compressed '4k' video, but I'd hate to have invested money on a great sound system, and only ever have access to inferior COMPRESSED audio...

Generally on new catalog 4K releases, they pull out the Blu-ray. Guess they do it on steelbooks now too. There’s probably exceptions to the rule.

All of the studios are tightening their belts.

Like I posted, The Golden Age is over.

At this point if I can get a 4K/Digital package from WB for under $15, I’d snag it. Disney is still hit and miss on including Blu-ray but I’m generally settling
$20-25 for their titles.

Settled for $2O Aliens from Target sale. Included both Blu-ray and digital.

The 3 for 33 Amazon sake was a nice post Christmas gift.

BF 2024 learned me a lot.

We are IN the Golden age right now, some incredible 4K releases, some of which I couldn’t have imagined.

This current Paramount sale is fantastic but on many of the newest catalog titles the Blu-ray has been removed. We are excited over the sale price of $14.49 for these 4K titles. There was a time when they were $10.

I wouldn’t expect too many more Paramount Presents or even catalog releases from them until this merger is done.

Were you buying movies 2010-2018?

For myself, I believe we are out of the Golden Age and are in a slow decline. I would say the final nail is when Best Buy left the market.

So I am loading up on these Paramount titles, I’m over $200. I feel when the sales come load up and I’m getting some great titles but this ain’t no Golden Age.

But if it is for you, enjoy and load up.

Also read the post above mine. Wondering if the entire physical release including 4K has been canceled. In the golden age a total box office winner like Barbarian would have a physical release.

Many new films aren’t even getting a 4K release. Poor Things as an example.

I think you are getting the most financially viable period mixed up with the Golden Age. I literally can’t keep up with all the 4K releases, especially from boutiques. 2024 onwards is the most money I have ever spent on home media.

Been collecting since 1999.

In the odd case that a 4K isn’t a viable here, I can get it elsewhere easily, be it U.S, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, etc,.
