Also, Isle of Dogs and French Dispatch will be getting solo releases in both Standard Blu and 4k

$250 during 50% off sales?

Not even worth it... $25 a pop

Average Criterion 4K MSRP: $49.99
Average B&N sale price $24.50

You're getting fancy packaging and extra discs at no extra cost compared to their plain releases?

Be happy you get that. We here in Canada only get 40% off and a hefty box set charge of about $20 to boot.

If it helps, I personally think the individual cover art for the Blus look so much better than the bland book covers of the box set (assuming that's the actually disc in there).

Those are certainly beautiful, but it's magical that these look like a complete set of 1970s World Book encyclopedias.

Canucks, this is up on Unobstructed View: CAD$599.98
https://unobstructedview.com/wes-and...uhdbd-web.html

$599.98 + $20 box set charge

(So, will be about $430 during 40% October sale including box set charge and tax . . . or $43 per film)

SIDE NOTE: If UV sticks with the $66.98 4k Criterion price, the two individual ones will be about $45 per film or $36.50ish for the standard blus)

Since the full set offers no discount compared to getting the movies separately, I think I'll just slowly collect all the films one by one.
Isle of Dogs and The French Dispatch getting standalone releases makes me think they WILL eventually release them all separately.

At least I hope so.

And I also hope the standalone releases will use proper, plastic cases instead of those flimsy, cardboard things BDs of Fantastic Mr. Fox and Moonrise Kingdom got from Criterion.

Price is pretty ridiculous. I know it's not 4K, but even the massive Bergman set is $400 with 39 movies! I was guessing 250 full MSRP, not the sale price. Also hoping that all the movies get individual 4k upgrades.

I assume that packaging costs for this are a lot higher now than they would have been a couple years ago due to, uh political stuff, which probably accounts for the lack of a boxset discount vs. other similar, older sets.

Also, they didn’t have to deal with Disney on the Bergman set.

Got the OP updated! Only two months to go until the box set, boys!

Will the restorations and encoding be perfect, or will there be some minor flaw that sets of years of debate between five people in this very thread???

Will the set be perfectly constructed and easy to use, or will the glue dissolve in a month's time, leaving us all with embarrassing heaps of orange and green and brown cardboard and cloth???

Stay tuned!
