Man 1: Where the f**k is Tombstone on 4K?
Still Man 1 five years later: F**k, still waiting
Man 1 again five years later: Screw this, I'm out.
Man 2: Tombstone finally announced!!
Man 1: Don't want a steelbook. Will wait for a standard if they're planning on doing one.

Of course but the fact is they got Star Wars from Lucasfilm. So it had nothing to do with Fox. Fox was simply the original distributor.

You will have to import it from Europe if you want a standard release

I don't think the scenes themselves are special, but the extended makes the movie feel more coherent and less rough around the edges.

What we will probably get:

-Probably an admittedly really good transfer
-SB only
-High price
-No New bonus stuff
-The blu will be the 2010 release
-Mediocre artwork
-Theater cut only

Basically, mostly a minimal effort and high price release. I will give it a mild thumbs up, but I'm not going to act like overpriced table scraps is something that should be outright championed.

That's all I need. And assuming it's the same or very similar engaging 5.1 track as before.

Indeed. But given how reluctant Disnee are to release any non-franchise non-big name director live action stuff on UHD then I'm still gonna be first in line.

I still don't know if the Disnee 4K floodgates are opening - and it's funny how this wasn't even mentioned as coming this year by the usual folks who insist that Sony will open the sluice gates soon - but my ankles are certainly damp.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that we need a ton of new features or a new transfer on a blu ray disc, but I'm just pointing out that this release looks to be bare minimum. A decently priced standard release with the extended cut would be awesome.

They asked Bill Hunt to make a list of his 50 favourite films in the Disney catalog that weren't released in 4K by them and Tombstone was at the top. Whether that actually enabled us the release is anyone's good guess but I'm not confident that this is more than a one-off. If we're getting the first five we can probably count ourselves lucky.

Last Dec Willow release was the same. No advance notice. Announced within 30 days of street date.

Everyone's favorite Youtuber (lol) never mentioned Tombstone but he did claim that the Die Hard Trilogy, among other Fox titles, were coming to 4K this year. Maybe Disknee only feeds him morsels and not entire meals. He acts like he gets invited to the buffet on a daily basis

I wanted to own the director's cut of this for years, and it ticked me off to no end that the studio never released it on Blu-Ray. But after reading descriptions of the missing scenes, I realized they didn't add much to the story. So I'll be more than happy to buy the 4K edition when it comes out.

He didn't? How odd. It's almost as if they're pulling their scoops outta their backsides. I don't think he gets invited to the buffet at all, he just clings to the glass outside, looking in and dribbling.

It was never a huge deal to me, but I always preferred the theatrical version. The extra footage was interesting on the DC and I got kind of used to watching it, but I didn't find it necessary.

YES.

"That's JUST my game."

Still, Kurt was not the director, he had a lot of input but not enough to be considered the director. Cosmatos was the director, and this has been confirmed by numerous sources including Val Kilmer. And on top of that If Kurt turned out such a great film after Tombstone, howe come he doesn't have a sole director's credit before or after unlike Cosmatos; "Of Unknown Origin", "Rambo II", "Cobra", "Leviathan", "Shadow Conspiracy"...Kurt is waiting for John Carpenter to die to say he directed The Thing and Escape From New York!

But people keep on believing on "Trust Me, Bro! News"
