on a serious note, I am anxiously waiting for the digital copy to hit my A24 account after buying the 4k day 1, access should technically go live today, right?

I didn't know that they would send a digital code on the streaming release date....if that happens, I'll be happy to order the physical media from A24 directly. Vudu used to do that but stopped some time ago.

I didn’t know they did that either. Wish it was on a service more widely used though. So it’s only a digital that you can view on their website?

Unless they've changed in the past few months, they just add it to your account and you watch it through their app. That's what they said/happened with We Live In Time.

Is there a release date yet for this? Apologies if this has an obvious answer that I'm just missing but don't see it on the A24 site and just purchased my first 4k player so new to this. Sorry if that's a terrible question, new to all of this. The steelbook is sold out except for what I can find at DeepDiscount but it's $50.25.

This (and the standard) just went up at Barnes & Noble, bizarrely with an Oct 1 release date listed.

A Different Man on B&N also has a different date than A24 previously said, Sept 15, and both those dates--9/15 and 10/01--are not Tuesdays, so they seem like incorrect placeholders, and hopefully they'll all ship at the normal expected June dates, but who knows

I watched this for the first time this morning. It was using the A24 app library stream cast to my appleTV.

Though there was a very dusty scene there was a difficult time with visually managing the dust.....the other 98% of the movie looked really good vs my expectations.

The sound design is really critical to this film. The immersiveness, directional imagery and first person/character sound design put you in the middle of story. The audio design was terrific (using DTS upmixer for a 9.4.4 set up).

As far as the film itself, I didn't realize how many "war tropes" I had come accustom to falling for. I came to expect shots would be fired if this character did Y. This story did a great job of discarding those tropes and giving what one assumes is a more realistic vision of actual conflict. The story purposely showed parts of the mundane downtime before any conflict, so the tension was built up more naturally.

Overall, I'd give the film a B+.

No way I would watch this without its native Atmos.

I just went from Monoprice HTP-1 (currently for sale) to Denon 6800. So, I'm still experimenting since I haven't run a proper calibration (did a quick Audyssey). I'm Audyssey curious (again) since I've had Dirac for about 8 years now. I will switch back to Dirac very soon and hopefully Dirac w/ART late 2025.

All that droning on, I was really impressed by the sound design. I can't wait to watch it via 4k disc.

I ordered this with Cobra 4k and The Stuff 4k from Orbit. They used to ship my orders pretty fast for a good two year period or so, but they've been sucking it up lately, especially for last few months. Nada yet. It's weird because I see that they've been shipping all three of these titles out for other folks' orders, and even re-listed them as in-stock new releases already on their website. I had preordered them all pretty early. Weird. Atomic has really been slaying Orbit in terms of my order fulfilments, and I've switched all my new preorders to Atomic.
