I watched Prom Night for the first time on BD a couple of years ago. I liked it - definitely will pick up the UHD.

I LOVE Prom Night. Classic slow burn slasher.

Don May said the Curtains 4K is cancelled?

I thought the reason Prom Night is getting a 4K is because Synapse was able to make a deal with the new rightsholders (as the previous company they dealt with when they did the BD went out of business) and thus they were able to access the OCN again and have a new 4K scan completed.

Was that mentioned on the podcast?

It was mentioned in the podcast that they didn't have the element that was used for the BD (didn't specifically say OCN) and so that's now having to be searched for as well. I HIGHLY doubt they just straight up cancelled it all of a sudden.

Ok so it's the same info as before. The release isn't cancelled, just tentative while they search for elements like they are with Prom Night 3/4.

But yeah, the OCN for Curtains wasn't used for the BD either as the specs said "original vault materials" (didn't look like it came from the OCN either) whereas the Prom Night BD specifically mentioned the OCN.

They said at the time:
Quote:
Today is the kind of day I both loath and love about this business. We have, in our hands, the only existing vault materials for a horror film that many love and have wanted for years to be done right on home video. I'm assigned to the task. The excitement is overwhelming just to SEE the film and find out what is in the cans. The "loath" part is usually the bad news where we find out it was improperly stored, torn, shredded, faded or whatever... But, we'll find out. Synapse will MAKE THIS WORK! 2K scan work commence!

Any movie with Leslie Nielsen disco dancing is worth watching.

Great news. One of my favorite slashers, and I wasn’t expecting this to come out since Synapse had ruled it out before (and they mentioned it being a disappointing seller). This should look amazing. This film has a cool color pallet with strong cinematography.

Supposedly Shout had Jamie Lee talk about all of her slashers when they interviewed her for The Fog. Footage from that interview ended up in their doc for Halloween H20. That was also Red Shirt. But maybe they’d still need to make a deal with Shout to use it.

What I’d really like is an interview with Anne-Marie Martin. The best part of the movie. Absolutely criminal she hasn’t been interviewed about this.

Charging $60 for the UHD will retroactively make up for the losses from the original Blu-Ray!

Wouldn’t surprise me if it influenced that scene. Kevin’s screenplay clearly took some inspiration from Prom Night (and of course he openly referenced it in Scream).

JLC appeared on those features 100% because of Sean Clark and their relationship.

Honestly I'm not surprised that Curtains wasn't officially announced yet, they're probably still searching for the elements and if they did find it, scanning probably only just begun.

Yeah and he was the moderator for the H20 commentary she recorded with Steve Miner for the Scream Factory Blu-ray.

I’ve met Sean a couple times, and he’s a nice guy.

That’s awesome news! Been waiting forever for a proper 4K of Prom Night, Synapse usually does solid work, so fingers crossed they do it justice. Glad the rights mess is finally cleared up.
