5 & 6 have DTS:X on disc and Atmos Streaming. The trilogy steelbook didn't update them.

Wrong! 5 and 6 NEVER had Atmos on disc. That's what we were are hoping for.

Movies 1-4 are now [Dolby Vision + Dolby Atmos] for the first time ever.

Movies 5-6 are still [Dolby Vision + DTS:X], just like the initial release... never got updated... despite all the press releases claiming such.

Movie 7 will be [Dolby Vision + Dolby Atmos].

Please don't tell me I am wrong when YOU are wrong. Not cool.

Not to mention Movies 3-4 are still stuck on BD-66. 3 doesn't matter us much since it's under 100 minutes, but 4 should be BD-100.

Fury Road and dune 2 wowed me, and I’m 50!

Having said that, I’m still wowed but usually by films like Aftersun, Femme, This Is England and The Father. Emotional gut punches in other words.

I mean, if that first encounter with the mosasaurus in Jurassic World: Rebirth didn’t absolutely blow you away, I don’t know what ever will. For me, it was hands down the most thrilling and suspenseful sequence in the franchise since Eddie’s desperate struggle in The Lost World. This is exactly how the Meg movies should have been done, the mosasaurus here is portrayed as both terrifyingly monstrous and breathtakingly majestic. As a lifelong monster fan, I was in awe every second it appeared on screen.

I’m sure my daughters are going to adore this one, and I can’t wait to revisit it in glorious 4K soon!

Just got back from the theater and I have to agree. Not saying there isn't some cheese in this film, but there are several exhilarating scenes here and I had a blast. There were a few very tasteful homages to the original film sprinkled in here too, one of em might of even brought a tear to the eye of a kid who grew up loving the original JP more than anything

I liked this more than all the other World movies but less than the three Park movies. Severely undercooked script from Koepp so he could get back to his more interesting projects with Soderbergh but Edwards does his best to present it as a handsomely staged and photographed final product.

Does the region B 4k steelbook have the same cover art as the region A steel or will it have the region A standard cover in steelbook form?

I actually saw this on the 2nd, but had to digest it for a bit.

[Show spoiler]This is to Jurassic Park as Alien: Romulus is to Alien. A mostly competently executed, but ultimately rather hollow and unambitious film, that is more focused on achieving a synthesis of elements from every preceding installment than showing us anything new. To me, it feels like a 2025 version of Jurassic Park III, with a helping of The Lost World, and picking up the hybrid thread from the fourth and fifth movies.

I did enjoy three or four set pieces, especially the Tyrannosaurus river raft chase. The T. rex hasn't looked this good since the original trilogy, and it finally gets to just be an animal again, instead of a glorified deus ex machina/superhero that swoops in to fight the villainous dinosaur and save the day (according to Gareth Edwards, that is exactly what they had planned for the climax here, until deciding against it).

That's another point in Rebirth's favor; the dinosaurs are portrayed as animals, rather than the anthropomorhized superheroes/supervillains the Trevorrow trilogy often turned them into. Surprisingly, this even includes the hybrids.

And said hybrids are, more than anything, what bothered me here. While Jurassic World's Indominus rex and Fallen Kingdom's Indoraptor at least still mostly looked like dinosaurs and had plot relevance (stupid as it may have been), Rebirth's Distortus rex and Mutadons cross the line from "dinosaurian monster" to pure fantasy creature, while no good justification is given for their inclusion. The D. rex doesn't do anything the T. rex or another large carnivore couldn't have done, and the Mutadons could easily have been replaced with Velociraptor.*

When the film spent the last maybe 20 or 30 minutes of its runtime focusing entirely on these fantasy monsters while never showing another dinosaur, it started to feel like I might as well be watching a King Kong movie. If Koepp, Spielberg and company's goal was to course correct and deliver a fun but mostly inconsequential "side quest" island adventure sequel that returns the series to its roots, then the least they could have done was to have some dinosaurs in their dinosaur movie. It's clear that the filmmakers are getting tired of dinosaurs, and project their fatigue on to audiences. When Jurassic World's "people don't care about dinosaurs anymore" is reiterated here, and actual prehistoric animals are pushed aside to make way for made-up hybrids that don't even resemble anything from the animal kingdom (extinct or extant), I can't reach any other conclusion.

I went in cautiously optimistic, but left the theater feeling kind of empty. I'm not convinced this is all that much better than the last trilogy, so much as it's different. A sidegrade more than an upgrade. And to be perfectly honest, in some ways I respect a movie like Dominion more for its wild ambition and attempting to say something, even if it fumbles the execution.

*Speaking of Velociraptor, the raptors now have a sequel that treats them the same way - actually, worse - than the third film did the T. rex. Two raptors appear in one short scene, where they are promptly disposed of by a Mutadon. This transpires in the background, out of focus, while one of the film's least likeable characters stands in the foreground taking a piss. I was both amused and bemused that the filmmakers had the cojones to treat the franchise's most iconic (together with the T. rex) dinosaur with such blatant disrespect.

TL;DR Decent for what it is, but too derivative and unambitious, which, combined with the focus on made-up fantasy monsters, left a bad taste in my mouth.

Just an assumption since they aren’t including Bluray or bonus discs and will try to double dip on sales of the new transfers, better to preorder for 100 bucks and cancel if it’s not the new transfers. I also preordered Rebirth for 26 bucks. So if the collection ere the old discs I’ll just wait until they release those again and cheaper than the steels.

DTS-HD/DTS:X or Atmos, it will never be on the same level as the Cinema DTS 5.1 mix of the original JP......loud and window-rattling.

Though, considering how DTS:X was/is "niche", compared to the more widely available Atmos, I wonder why they didn't bothered to stick with Atmos, right when they released Fallen Kingdom.

Since 2018 most studios released movies in Atmos, for the most part.
I wonder if Universal had a special contract/deal with DTS, to release their movies in DTS:X, instead of Atmos.

I ordered the steelbook of the first 3 movies.
I would've just got the original JP and TLW, if they released them separately (as I'm only interested in the first 2 movies, as far as the originals goes). But, for the price I payed, it's good to also have JP III, anyway (even though it's my least favorite entry of the franchise).
Could care less about the new transfers/mixes for JW, as I also have the 3D Blu-Rays, and I just watch them once every year.

With that said, knowing how Universal NEVER included any remastered Blu-Rays with their 4K releases, to be on the safe-side (for those who want to get the new transfers), I would check the back cover of the upcoming collection.
If there is NO Atmos/Vision logo on the back cover/slip, it means they would've probably re-packaged the old transfers.

But, for the price they're asking for the new collection, it would definitely be a shame if they didn't included the new transfers.

I greatly enjoyed this one, I thought it was much better than the previous three. I love how the dinosaurs seem to only get bigger with each new movie. The sequences with the mosasaur and the T-rex on the river were the best! Genuinely thrilling and terrifying. Definitely will be purchasing it when it's released!

I agree with the post from MechaGodzilla above, but I want to add a LOT of griping here, so don't look if you're just going to roll your eyes.
[Show spoiler] To start with, I didn't like any of the characters. One of the many flaws here is there are too many characters, and none are served in a way to make you have a feeling about them, other than what you may have felt for a similar character elsewhere. The woman who gets dragged off the beach may not even have had a back story. If that's true, that's a place where the movie didn't suck, except she shouldn't have been there at all. The scene in the museum near the beginning took so long and the characters were so unlikable that I seriously thought about going out into the hallway until it was over. The story relies on people acting stupidly -- people yell and yell for each other, even though they know there are deadly animals around them. They also know there are flying reptiles because they've just pissed one of them off, yet they stand around in the dark in the open. The captain opens the throttle without caring what will happen when he gets to the beach until he gets there. The movie's first half clearly shows several times how dangerous the open water is, yet at the end the characters happily get onto a boat, not knowing how far it can take them, and steer out into the open water. Some of the dino action was OK but can't redeem the rest of the experience. A whole herd of titanosaurs appears out of nowhere. We're supposed to feel it's beautiful, but prior movies did it far better. The characters were surprised to find two titanosaurs popping up practically under their feet (because the largest dinosaur ever can't be seen if it just lies down in the grass), then a couple of minutes later there are dozens in clear view.
Later, a character with flares is about to be eaten by a T-rex, but doesn't think to use a flare offensively. (BTW, the only movie I've ever seen where someone throws a torch or flare into an attacking dinosaur's mouth is "Gorgo," and I'm pretty sure that was accidental.)
I realize this is a lot of nitpicking, but there are a lot more nits to pick. A little bit of balance: I went with my wife and my next-door neighbor (who, BTW, saw The Beatles in concert when she was a teen), and they both liked it overall, although my wife complained about the parts borrowed from previous movies. I wondered if Rebirth started out as an actual restart and those parts were just carried over.

For the price of the collection, I would be shocked if they don't include the new transfers. Esp since you can get the old set for 40 bucks or so now and the new film would add another 30 bucks and be worth 70, not 100.
